Default ignition Wiring Help

2007 - 350z

Yeah gidday Wiring in a push start button.

Having trouble with starting the car.
So far I have one push turning on the radio, push again I get the tac/dash instruments and can hear the fuel priming.
But when I clutch in and long buttom push I get a click and nothing.

How do I make it think the key is in to start, if that is the issue.

To even begin to help debug an issue like this, it would be helpful to know if there is a certain brand of push-button start that you are using. Also, do you have a marked-up wiring diagram to show where you have made your connections?

So there's no specific brand it's just a typical button off the Internet.
But it comes with a diagram and a bit of broken English.

So the kits does also come with a foot brake wire but I don't think that's necessary for a 350 right? That'd be referring to an E-brake pedal.

I haven't done this project, but typically it's not a E brake wire but a clutch wire. For a 5 auto you prolly just ground it. Have you checked YT?

I'm not too familiar with this kit, does it work similar to the systems on high end cars where the key is not required to be in the ignition? If so, how does it unlock the steering column?

-I haven't tried tapping into the clutch wire but I will give that a try and get back to you. Maybe the bad English is calling the clutch a brake pedal so Yeah I'll try.

-Not too sure about unlocking the steering wheel, I think it could work in a similiar way to normal, Perhaps push button and turn wheel. If that didn't work it's not too much hassle to have the key stashed somewhere in the car to be safe.

I was curious because a truly keyless system (just having key nearby) would be cool, but I have yet to see one. Most, to me are just stupid because they still require the key to be in and all the way to the second on position to unlock the column and to start so I was interested to see how this achieved that, if even.

If this system does require the key in the ignition in position 2 then that may be part of the problem.

I found this YouTube video of a guy with what what looks like the same kit as what I have and he has capped off the barrel completely. He has it starting with just the button/nfc keytag.
Watching him I think we may have been correct in thinking I need to tap into the brake wire aswell. He has everything working the same as I do and the only thing I haven't done the same is the using the brake wire. Will try install that tomorrow

I have not done this in a Z but I did for my MR2 and swore not to do it again. The only way to bypass the column lock is to put the key in it, turn it and break it off, or remove the ignition switch entirely. I removed the switch and installed the button in it's place looked nice and worked flawlessly but it was quite a pain to get it all working. That being said I would not go cheap as it's an easy way to disable your car on the road. The one I had was from Advanced Keys, I had the press both the clutch and brake for it to start.
