Default Selling engine. How much?

I’m trying to get rid of my 2003 VQ35DE from my old car. It was still running when I pulled it, but I was accidentally driving it without any oil and it started making noise. I’m guessing needs new bearings and maybe rings. Selling complete engine with mounts and stock exhaust manifold headers. How much do you think it’s worth?

$200 - $400 at the most. That is going to require a complete tear down and rebuild which is going to cost the buyer a good amount of money and money to do.

I have bought a few engines with rod knock or overheated and I wont pay more than $100 ... 813 is generous at $200 to $400 but I would imagine that it'll vary depending on location.

if you have bearing damage than your crank is likely shot ...

and if you need new rings than the block is likely shot ...

if you were in colorado, I would offer to pick it up for free - seeing that the two most valuable items are toast

You could part it out and make a few hundred dollars if you wanted to deal with people

Look up what an engine rebuilder charges for a core charge. That's what it's worth.

i listed it at $100. And I figured the block might need machine if the rings were shot but didn’t think the crank too... dang.

what do you mean part it out? Part out the engine? Never heard of someone doing that before on a damaged engine.

I think it's good to honest with people - good karma...

Yea, disassemble the block and see the
plenum/intake/manifold - $100
throttle body - $50
headers - $20
heads - $100

block $200 (if it's good)
crank $200 (if it's good)

pulleys - $20
VTC Solenoids - $60
Valve Covers - $50

Remind me of my G35 few years ago when i was trying to buy it from a small dealership. Before i want to test drive it, the seller was trying to impressed me. He launched so hard and drive so fast. When I bring the car home, suddenly I hear the loud knocking from the engine. Short story, the dealer ended up rebuild the engine. The mechanic told me the car didn't have enough oil when the seller test drove it so hard.

The comments above are reasonable. I think somewhere between free and $100 depending on how badly you want it gone.

With the effort needed to sell it part by part I would personally just give it away to not have to deal with it. Maybe try to get $50-100

that’s exactly the answer I was looking for. I’ll aim for $100 but if you think less is fair, I guess I’ll accept less.
