Alright this may be kind of hard to explain but here goes:
I have a little over 23,000 miles on my '03 Z, and the only power/engine mod I've done is Invidia exhaust. I just recently started noticing this strange sound when I accelerate, and also when the car is slowing down on its own (like when I shift down, and let the car slow itself if that makes sense?) and basically the sound literally sounds like a cricket CHIRPING! The only other time/example I could think of, is if any of you have heard like the OLD VW beetles sometimes would make like a chirping/whirring sound when they accelerate? That's almost what it sounds like sometimes when I'm accelerating. It's not all the time, but I just recently started to notice it.
Does anyone have any thoughts what it might be? Is it something exhaust related? Or is this some kind of engine issue?
thanks in advance all
*ps - I haven't had any accidents, NO problems on my Z since I got it July '03, and I have had all services and even oil/filter changes every 3,000 miles. And I have had the exhaust on there since Nov '03, and like I said no other weird sounds/problems just until now...

Hey man, I don't know what caused that noise but I had the same sound coming from my Z a few days ago. However my noise went away that same day.
When I heard the noise I thought it was coming from my bag that I put in my hatch earlier that day so I pulled over and moved the bag to the front of the car and continued to drive, but, to my shock the noise came back.
At first I thought a large cricket was hidden somewhere in the hatch yet when I rolled down the window the noise was greatly pronounced and would go away if I slowed down below 20 MPH. Anything above that speed would cause the noise to be present; even if I let off the gas. I am thinking the noise came from one of the rear wheel wells. I checked everything I could the next day but didn't find anything out of place.
I really want to know what that noise was because with my luck, I know it's coming back.
Edit: I have no mods on my car at all. I also have kept the car in great shape as well. I have a 2004.5 Track with about 15,000 miles.
