Default New classing in scca solo stock autocross

Does anybody know what the justification was for the 03-09 350z class getting moved up to fs from cs class in the scca autocross stock class?

Looks to me the 300ZX is in CS. But the 370Z is now with 350Z in FS.

Default Classes

I don't understand why. My 03 is 20 less hp and 11fps tourqe than my buddies 08, let alone comparing to the 370. I think this puts us in same class as 5.0 mustangs. Doesn't seem level field.

Just started Autocross (2 races), yes, I see my car(2005 350z) got bumped up to FS class from DS class? I must say the mustangs I have seen, while way more horsepower, seem to struggle through the cones suspension wise so it might be fair. On the other hand pairing a 350z against a 370z ... It can't be perfect as we all know, because of the wide variance in the cars. I am assuming, they are doing the changes based on the overall data that comes out of the races and where cars finish that they collect? Much like the Tesla being bumped up this year. I saw one run last week and it was incredibly fast, but was sliding sideways all over the place, still had great times though. I am still running for "fun" and learning. I race other things, and inevitably there usually is always a "wrinkle" in the rules that gives a certain car a slight edge over another. Hard to avoid it.

I'm no expert in solo rules, but have to comment on SCCA rulemaking in general. In road racing, it seems like older cars (like the Z33) with good racing records get the short end of the stick. In the past, the 350Z has won several National Championships and either gets classed with much more powerful cars or handicapped with weight, flat plate restrictors or smaller tires. The SCCA Touring classes has seen many changes over the years, and I try to submit requests each year to even the field a bit. Thus far, my arguments have carried little weight and still I continue on. We may not realize it, but the Z is actually a pretty good package that more than holds its own against more expensive cars from Porsche, BMW, etc.

Thanks for the comments guys. l know it is what it is but, I was just curious if anybody had any stats that justified it. Dkmura you are correct on the road I have been able to hang with other more expensive sports cars. This will be my 2nd year in autocross. Main thing is just keep improving. Drive hard stay safe.

I autocrossed this last weekend in FS - placed second out of 9 cars. Winning car was a 2013 BMW M3 on Rival S.

It is what it is. I do it for fun anyways.

Im told that I was in STU, I got smashed. then again all I had was wheels, coilovers and spoiler (looks lol) then when I started runs I was told I was then again in the wrong class. Im now in some new class that just opened up tbh, Not going to complain its all in fun but damn are some of those SCCA cars pretty fast. I need to step up my game and or mods lol

What are you driving and how much did you lower it. It counts on how low you go.
