I think you are right that I should remove the spacer and swap back the lower plenum to put me back in stock category. I think for this next year I'll keep them in and see how badly you and everyone else kicks my backside in the BSCC street tire. I may change out the front sway bar if I find a flaming good deal on a used Hotchkis as that would still be legal in stock.

There are quite a few cars that have that split stock/street prepared classification.
Example... the Mustangs were in FS (like most v8 cars that don't end in -orvette) but ran in ESP when you threw some mods on.
My guess is that certain cars improve more than others with certain class mods.

SP classes have no bearing in terms of their letter before then in regards to stock classes. IE SS cars go to ASP (the Old AS cars usually go to BSP along with the old BS cars)
Easiest thing, just follow the rule book, stock classes don't directly lead into SP classes. If you want to win above the local level, the 350z is screwed in every class.

The betamotorsports guy put it perfectly in the str thread, the 350z is a kickass car, awesome to auto-x with, but not the car that is probably going to win.

As to how the car felt, it simply felt -- inconsistent.
The biggest difference I've felt is when I'm crossing manhole covers with the right-rear. Now that I've had the subframe replaced, what I used to feel -- a wiggle in the rear end, a wobble in the car that is no longer there.
On the course, it felt like an uncertainty. The car "changed" in an inconsistent way until it reached the limit of the first broken weld, when it stiffened again. After the second weld broke, the car continued to "flex" and made it much more inconsistent.
Basically, the right rear would move forward and toe in under acceleration.

Competitive yes, win tours, maybe. Win Nats, highly unlikely. I do listen to you Glenn, and your car was way better set up then mine. That's why I was so excited you let me co-drive, thank you again. But I guess my ambitions have grown very, very quickly. I want to be deep into the trophies at Nats, if not vie for the championship. Hell, I was only a measly cone away from a trophy, but at the same time, I don't think I left much if anything out there, and that's where I don't see us winning.
One reason that you did so well was because you were jumping into a car that you weren't as familiar with, and even though it was inconsistent, you didn't realize that it *was* being inconsistent. I was frustrated because the car simply wasn't driving as I expected (and could depend upon).
And as much as the RX-8 guys are saying that they haven't fully set up their car, there are way too many people who have tried different things looking for an even better setup, and they keep coming back to the same setup that has won for the past five years.
The Solstice ZOK had the full weight (and expertise) of the Chevy racing team, so you know that it's pretty much no-compromise.
The MR-S has the expertise of Mazdaspeed, so you know that it's pretty close to the ultimate as well.
Meanwhile, 350Zs have faster scratch times at multiple National Championship events. The 370Z is going to be even faster.

I just keep going back to the fact that the S2000 was not the "killer car" when it was introduced. In fact, IIRC, it took several years before the S2000 was considered a "no brainer" option, and by then the AP2 was out and was considered "inferior" to the AP1.
Now not only is the AP2 "the S2000 to have," but the AP2-based CR is the considered the best of the S2000s.
Given my setup is not the same as the Thompsons, and *seems* to be faster and more consistent (in my comparison, data seems to bear that out), I think that I've got a decent chance. The bigger tires of the Nismo 350Z help to overcome the balance difference.
The wildcard is whether someone will come up with a good 370Z shock configuration and setup. I wouldn't put it past someone like Jr. (EVO chief instructor) to show up with a well-setup 370Z and put the spank down on all of us.

I shall continue to try to get to your guys' level of skill..........So I've given up on trying to "prep for a class" and just leave whatever I have on the car and run it as it is next season.
Meanwhile, I'm still trying to push Ross Maguire to go to Nationals next year in his 07'. I'm positive he'll trophy if he drives at his full potential.
