Question brake help

I'm confused, I pulled all the calipers off my 2003 enthusiast model to replace the pads and rotors, clean & paint the calipers. After I disassembled everything I found there are two different "caliper pin bolts", on both front & rear. One with a rubber tip, and one without, on each caliper. I don't know if they were in the right place to begin with. Can anyone tell me where these pins go? The rubber tipped on the top or bottom? Does it matter? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome- but I'm confused about what caliper pin bolts you're talking about. None of the F&R mounting bolts have a rubber tip that I'm aware of. The only rubber tipped items are the bleeder valves themselves. Maybe post a pic?

I think he's asking about the slider/pin placement on the caliper bracket.

Greybeard, is there any difference between the pins other than the rubber tip? On another vehicle years ago, the factory pins were put in backwards and you had to reverse them to correct the smooth movement (or lack thereof) causing the pads to drag. If there's a round pin and one with slightly shaved areas on 2 sides across from the other, IIRC, the round one goes in the top.

Otherwise, the FSM might indicate a shaded area on the rubber tipped one.

I was trying to picture this on my setup until I realized you might have floating calipers instead of fixed calipers. I was thinking pad guide pins but thats only on the fixed calipers. The rubber ends you are talking about are just boot covers for your caliper guide bolts. I did a quick google search and found that those rubber boot covers are on both top and bottom, so you might be missing them.

I've noticed the same on a few different cars. Don't know if it matters , but didn't pay attention when I put them in.
