Hi all, I've read on here that this sensor would be a headache to remove since its prone to cracking the upper oil pan if removed (even tho its only torqued to 11 ft/lbs). Heres a picture of my oil pressure sensor which seems pretty gunked up. It looks like this sensor does not have an O ring or anything by looking at online pics. I'm not sure if the grime build up is due to the front main seal or this sensor. My oil pressure reading on the OEM 3-gauge works perfectly. What else should I be looking for in this area? Can I spray with brake cleaner and just RTV the sensor area/upper oil pan?

Also side question. Does overdoing it on brake cleaner deteriorate RTV? I don't wanna have brake cleaner running down onto my newly RTV'd lower oil pan if thats the case.

You wont get anywhere with RTV. Spray it with brake cleaner to keep it clean and replace the sensor when it goes bad. You could hit it with PB Blaster to clean up some of the corrosion but I wouldnt worry about it too much until it goes bad.

Once it goes bad replace the sensor with an OEM/Nissan and (obviously) be very careful when you do the fix.

a little bit of brake cleaner on exterior facing RTV wont hurt it but I wouldnt soak RTV in brake cleaner unless you're trying to clean it.
