Default Supercharged 350z DE

Have about 7k saved up for a supercharger for my DE and have a few questions that I really couldnt seem to find answers on here searching the forums so I guess 1. Is it even worth it? The car only has 50k miles and is a 5AT. 2. Theres many different brands and trim for blowers, which would be best for a daily driver on stock motor? 3. Is a supercharger better or worse than a turbo with the DE? 400hp crank hp is what I'm trying to get out of the car, but again we go back to is it even worth it and how reliable will it be. Completely stock 04 Z with the exception of the trans go shift kit.

If you actually have 7k right now... Do yourself a favor and go with the kit Z1 sells with injectors, fuel pump and tuning... you'll be $ and time ahead in the long run. I have a supercharged 06 I built the engine in and pieced together my own parts. I've worked through a lot of headaches and currently have to switch injectors because I'm running out of fuel. Is it worth it? If you're looking to increase the value and make your car more desirable... just stop right now. If you like breaking **** and having a **** eating grin on your face... carry on!

Great way to look at it. ^^

As far as your own goals, 400 crank is eminently doable with the correctly matched components. While others may question the sanity of doing so with an automatic transmission, well, let me say that after years of FI applications (not on newer model Z cars.... Volvos, Mercedes), there is absolutely nothing wrong with running a blower or turbo with an A/T. Matter of fact, IMO, works even better because there's zero loss of boost while pedal off shifting. Insignificant point, sure. But this does support the use of an A/T.

don't do basic bolts-ons & a tune on a DE … You'll spend $3k on cams, intake, exhaust, $1k on uprev and a tune you'll hit 280hp/250ft-lbs of torque...

You're headed down the right path FMGT … a basic supercharger or turbo kit running 8psi to 10psi will optimize your block. You're gonna be limited to 400hp / 350ft-lbs (bc your transmission wont take much more but that's fine). 400hp on an OEM engine is well below the threshold it can take and it'll really liven the car up.

If you need help sourcing parts start a build thread and we'll help you out.

You should hit up ThirstyZ, he's got a fresh set of 750cc injectors that he grew-out of that I bet you can get a deal on!

Unpopular opinion but for an auto would go for a Stillen kit, it won't give you the power you want tho.
Nitrous wouldn't be a bad thing either.

I have a Vortech supercharged 03. The supercharger power is very linear, which makes it safer for our engines. It does however get somewhat boring since the power is so deep in the powerband. I feel like with $7k , you can either buy an already boosted Z (was thinking of selling mine for like $9k) or a different car all together.

IMHO, it's not insignificant at all. Automatics are more consistent & can be setup to handle big power. If anything, I would ramp up my maintenance intervals for draining and filling the transmission. Depending on your driving habits, I don't think it'd hurt to do that every other oil change using a good synthetic. In this case, I wouldn't recommend Mobil1 as it's not approved. Amalie makes a great full synthetic that's reasonably priced and readily available.

If you're going to track it, I'd install a trans temp gauge and an upgraded trans cooler. I have one in my daily just in case I'm hauling whatever in the Florida heat.

I was in the same situation back in November and stumbled across two websites selling the 4nz218-010sq, Vortech V2 with Fuel and SS box for $3300. The first website turned out to be a bust, but second website actually delivered my full Vortech kit for less than $3500 shipped.

The reviews were horrible, but this is the one that panned out with PayPal.

https://www.rvautoparts.com/4NZ218-0...iABEgIOEPD_BwE

the first site was Autoplicity and it took them almost a month the refund me.

The kit I received from RVAutoparts was in original packaging from 2007. Old stock but brand new and unopened!
