Wrong Timing Chain to my 350z
Hello, first of all nice to meet you, as this is my first post on this forum
I've got a problem with my 350z.
I need to replace timing in my nissan.
I bought new timing kit from FIA, to engine model VQ35DE - My car is from 2004.
But after unpack package, I find out that my timing chain have diffrent shape.
And because of that water pump from new one will be not work, I think.

I'm writting to you, if someone maybe knew how many models of timing chains are avaiable.
And what model should be ok for engine model VQ35DE, with water pump powered by timing chain.
I would be really greateful for any respond, and thank you in adavance

Welcome, and it would help to know why you think the timing chain itself needs to be changed. The VQ35DE is very robust and the timing belt capable of lasting the life of the engine with proper maintenance. How many miles are on your Z? Not sure about the shape of the links of the timing belt, but is it the same length as the OEM one? Have you test fitted it?

I don't have any personal experience to pull from regarding the VQ35's timing chain assemblies. As dkmura mentioned, these should outlast the life of the engine/vehicle. But there might be three different kits available. One for 2003-2005 model (VQ35DE) years, one for 2006 (Revup DE) and one for 2007-2008 (VQ35HR). Make sure that when you placed your order, you selected the year for 2003-2005 (Non-Revup VQ35DE).
The chain in the packaging you received doesn't look like any of the OEM replacements I've seen offered online. The links are the wrong shape. You could take a gamble with it if the length matches up, but I would personally return the kit and request a replacement or refund. Then order an OEM kit.

I agree with the statements above.
On the other hand it looks like they changed the side cuts to save weight or metal. If this is the only one you can get I'd measure the pin-to-pin distance with a micrometer and compared to the old. If it's within .0156" (1/64th) of the old one count the links and hope for the best.
This isn't a project that you want to screw up, so I'd recommend getting an exact OEM replacement.
