need help! how do i know for sure if a 350z has cd009 and gonna fit 03 de angine
need help!
i research on google, and read any post if possbile, that is why im here
i am confused after reading all the info
so far, i havent got a idea how to check for sure if that car has cd009 other than get the vin and check with the z performance, which takes a few days to confirm and it is almost impsossible to do since u cant check every single donor car on market.
my question is
1 which year of 350z for sure has the cd009. since most online part finder web is based on model. this way is easier
2 does all cd009 fit 03 350z? it may looks like that cd009 has two vision , one is for de , one for hr, is this true? if so, how do i know the one im looking at is for de?
3 it look like if i wish to put a cd009 into my 03 350z, i need either a short pivot ball or cluth fork, where can i got those, nissan dealer?
thx for any help!

yes, after doing all the calculation ,pretty much the same
i called a local 350z special shop, they tell me a used cd009 around 150k-200k tranny is asking 2000(CAD)., but there is a waiting list, i have to put a deposit first
i was shocked by the milage and price, but he told me cd009 is unbeatable. even 200k is nothing, a lot of life is left
do u think he is honest?

Hi Chrisli,
The specialist shop isn't wrong. Most manual transmissions will last beyond 500k mi (assuming they aren't abused). Rebuilding them is also not a very difficult or expensive prospect. But that price is still pretty insane, does it also include the install/swap labor? I've seen used CD009s sell here in California for less than $800 US on craigslist.

well. labor is not included in this price .800 USD translate into 1100. but it is a private sell.i do see on on kijiji for 1000 CAD listed 3 weeks ago, but it is sold, they are more like car dealer, they buy from private, make it up and sell it, 2000 is not that bad, but their labor is very bad, my mechanic says it is 5hr job, so he charges 400-500 to do it, but this special shop ask for 1500 for swap. the only benefit u can get is they offer 90 days warranty, if u take it to anybody else, good luck! the labor rate they charge is way too high, with 3500CAD everything included, i can get brand new cd009. i dont know why there will be anyone try to do it with them

I couldn't tell you. I could be wrong, but I thought the CD009 wasn't put into Gs and Zs until 2005.5 -- 2006.5. Would need to do some more homework on that. Also, I'm not entirely sure if the bracing and shifter locations are the same between G35s and 350Z 6MTs. I would imagine they are the same, but again I don't know exactly which years the early CD009s started shipping in. I know 2006 for certain.

Your best bet is to buy one used online and pick it up in person in the USA and drive it back to Canada. You’ll save that money at least up front.

so to be on the safe side, if i go with model year, 2006 350z has cd009 for sure, and that is the only year (2005 is depends on date), because some one online told me 0708 has internal/external xx cyliner which is opposite with 03-06,. so i cant swap those cd009 from 07-8. is that true? thx!!!!!
Honestly though, you have any friends in any northern states near you (East? West?) that could take delivery of a new CD0A for you? (And you pick it up or have it trucked.) You get a brand new unit that is warranted. Install and done.

Correct, HR engine equipped Z's do not use CD009. HR transmission code is JK40. External slave, differing bolt pattern and input shaft.
