Default What are the symptoms of fuel starvation?

I was going to post in the Motorsports thread but this seems like it can be a general question overall.
I was out @ Thompson Speedway this past weekend for HPDE event and noticed towards my later sessions down the straight my throttle would cut out (a split second or so) towards the end of the straight. I noticed that it happened as my gas tank was @ 25% or less so my guess is fuel starvation although I am still unsure given some other clues that do not make sense.
  • Happens when only on very specific portion of the track, the straightaway. There seems to be somewhat of a slight transition from a downhill to an uphill on the straight where it usually happens. The uphill is barely noticeable unless looking at it from a distance.
  • Happens when I am ~ 25% of fuel in the tank; morning sessions I did not feel this throttle cut
  • Does not happen on hard corners or sweeping corners throughout the track even if @ 25% gas capacity (I would imagine fuel starvation on sweepers as well)
  • Happens right after shifting from shifting on the straight. I will be WOT and the throttle will cut for a split second ~3-4 times before I enter my braking zone.
I am led to believe it was fuel starvation which cut throttle response a bit, however I have no experience of how that feels. But I am confused because for all the hard turns and sweepers, the car does not have that issue which is when I would expect fuel starvation to happen. Could it be fuel starvation or something else?

Thanks!

Car is 2003 N/A VQ35DE, uprev tuned, 93 octane, 155k miles, stock transmission

Most fuelstarve issue are mid corner and corner exit on right hand corners. My car would do it anything less than 1/2 tank and less then 3/4 tank on a long sweeper

Thanks terrasmak, thats what I was thinking about fuel starve issues. I wouldn't expect it on a straight. I did notice that once I fill up to half tank the issue was nonexistent which is the clue leading me to believe this is a fuel starve issue. I will see if I can get some data/video in tonight to show.

To make things a bit more complicated, could it be something with clutch/flywheel contact? It happens after I shift from 4th-5th where the sudden loss of throttle comes in.
