Glad you're ok man. Think of the bright side, you're getting yourself a brand new car (Z hopefully).

What is "whiplash"?

whiplash is um man i never thought of it but it's hard to explain without motions. aha well when you get into a car accident, or get rear-ended, the force is so strong it make your body jerk forward while you head jerks back .. or visvera. bad whiplashes can seroiusly cause pain in the neck and can break necks. that's why pro racers have helmets, that are attached to the car and not just on their head.

looking at the crash pics makes me want to cry

I remember reading about your car in the SA forums syf0n (about the guy who kept on keying you and your parents cars). Sorry about the loss man.

I've had a similar accident happen to me about 4 years ago too, except the guy cut me off while i was making a lane change and the pavement was dry. The car? 97' M3. The result? Totaled. Got $30K.

Default 1st year value of the car.

Syf0n ,

So you know...

The 350z has a high value after the first year. The car only depreciates like 30% of the original value (i.e. 70% of original value msrp $32000 -> after 1 yr $22400) Which is great for those people who turn around cars fast.

However folks remember try to sell your car after year three. The value drops to like 30% of original price (value $9600).

Richard you are very lucky. I would belive that the insurance company will total the car with no problems after the estimate is together. With close to 18K in parts alone the vehical will not be worth enough to warrant repair. You need to keep two things in mind when speaking to then one the car will never take another impact like this one again and the odds are if you are in another accident it will involve the front of the vehical. Second the value of the car after repairs will not be no where near as high as it was before the crash, another words if you try to sell it you will not get what would have been full value of the car or if you try to trade it the dealer will not give you anything for the car as well. So if for some odd reason they do fix it make sure you get the depreciation from the accident from them so you can rid yourself of the car.

Its got to be a total loss but I'd bring it to a body shop you know and have them "make sure" its totalled.

Glad your not hurt.

Only problem about getting it to a body shop "I know" is that it happened halway between where I live and where I go to school. My car is like 4 hours from here right now easily. I can't just walk over to the yard and pick it up...

Glad you're okay. Going that speed and not having a broken bone or injuries is incredible!

As for the guy who did it, they never caught him...
I live in northern Florida and yesterday and the day before had a lot of rain. I was driving Monday night during one of the thunderstorms and I was hoping that I wouldn't hydroplane. That's one bad things about the weather here in Florida (plus I drive Base, so no TCS, VCD, etc)

Hmmmm. I`ve seen articles that state that the Z is one of the cars that after 5 years, will still have 50% of its value.

GET BETTER TIRES GUYS!!

If you live in an area with lots or rain, get better tires! I have Dunlop Sport 9000's and their perfect in the rain. Our stock tires are no good in water.

Here is an additional photo of the front left side of my car, close up on the damaged engine area.

Someone was saying that the car would not be totalled because the front reinforcement looks to be in place. I am trying to figure out what reinforcement they mean.

After looking at that picture, I'd say with more confidence that it is totalled.

When I read what happened to you I was like...Hey thats like something I'd see in Florida (someone cutting across all lanes to get into the left and slam on brakes)...then I saw you were in Savanna and I was like oh well...but then you said it happened in FL...What happened to you happens to people regularly in FL (not totalling their cars but gettin cut off that badly)...the elderly here have it in their head that they have to be in the far left lane in their GIGANTIC cars. And they don't signal look or care when they come over...I really feel for you man I got rear ended (not nearly as bad of an accident as you) by a guy because an 80 year old slammed on brakes at the end of a merge lane onto I-95 and the guy behind me couldn't stop in time. Glad to hear you're OK, just watch out next time you're in FL (aka God's Waiting Room).

Or just keep it x amount of time after your done paying for it and enjoy no car payment months...many people are still driving 300ZX's, Supra's, etc. They still look good and are very fast. And just think, once the payments are gone, all the dough for mods you'll have (and more mods too-future products)...IMO get rid of it whenever you're sick of it or see something else you want.

Man you are one lucky guy. That car is totalled. Vaden has a silverstone sitting on the lot with Nismo exhaust...may want to ask Mike to put a hold sticker on it for you.
