Default My Z is TOTALLED.

Well, **** happens I guess.

I was driving back to Savannah on I-10 last night. At exit #199 (Tallahassee) some a$$hat got on the interstate and then immeditately swerved across both lanes, got right in front of me, and then hit his brakes. I hit mine as well, and immediately felt my car lift as I started to hydroplane. The car seemed to gain speed as it sailed across the other two lanes. I hydroplaned across two lanes and and counter-steered a bit, but impact was inevitable and I wanted it to be at the front of the car since there's more **** there to protect me. I turned the wheel back a bit, flexed my arms so they wouldn't be locked, and shut my eyes. I impacted the guard rail at about 65 or 70MPH.

I opened my eyes. Both front airbags deployed. None of the curtains did, which seems right since the impact was straight on. My head never touched the airbag -- my seatbelt completely restrained me. The chemicals from the airbags hurt my eyes so I checked my hands and feet, then opened the door and rolled out onto the pavement and took a deep breath before getting up to call 911.

Turns out someone already had. A bunch of people stopped to give witness reports about the a$$hole who cut me off, and apprently then kept going -- completely oblivious to the mayhem unfolding behind him. I checked myself out a little further before the cops showed up; I was completely unharmed with the exception of some chemical burns caused by the airbags. A bunch of cops and EMTs and firefighters came. They cut all the battery lines to my car because it was still on and I spent a while sorting out the EMTs and police. It took 4 AAA trucks more than 2 hours to get my car unhooked from the guard rail. Apparently the car was impaled at multiple points by the guard rail. The cop epxlained to me that I probably shouldn't be (or was very lucky to be) alive and that if I had been going any faster than the speed limit when it happened, the car would have gone through the rail and down a 50 foot embankment. AAA finished picking up pieces of my car a hundred or so yards down the highway and then put all of them in my car, thereby covering the interior in mud and water. Not like I'll be using it again anyhow.

I got a hotel room and earlier this morning I got a flight back to Savannah.

Wear your seatbelts, kids!

Wow man - I am glad you'r still with us. Did the police catch that SOB ...

I hate ppl that put others at risk.. Simply do. Don't mind ppl that fly by me 120 -130 - but I do mind the stupid ones - even going 50 over all lanes...

Holy Sh*T!

I'm glad you're ok...for doing such a number on your car. You nailed that thing so dead on that...I hate to say it ..but it's such a beautiful and clean looking crash. Definitely totalled!

Once again...glad you're ok. May the tides put you behind the steering wheel of another new car soon.

When I drive, the only thing I worry about are the other idiots on the road.

Most importantly, you're alive and safe.

I am a little bit worried because the insurance lady said they might not total it, which would mean I get the shaft. Does anyone with any insurance or dealership experience have any light to shed after seeing the photos I posted?

Thanks in advance,
Richard

Damn, freakin crazy!

I bet in that short period of time before the crash, your mind was racing in slow motion huh? Mine did when some guy cut me off years ago on the highway and I had to hit the brakes and swerve.

Definitely amazing that you're still with us in this world, and I know everybody thanks the heaven for that.

DUDE... that car is totaled. I would not except anything less. Amazing you kept your composure throughout the entire thing and didn't panic. Got to give you props. It kept you alive and unharmed!

Sorry to hear it. If there is one bright spot it looks like from the third picture you posted that you did not have any tire feathering.

Glad to hear you are ok! That is the good news! Man...that is a wicked and scary story. That car is totaled. No doubt! You should see if the insurance company will let you recover (unlikely)any of the items (wheels, seats, shift ****, etc ) on the car or at the very least find out which junkyard it is headed for. You can part out a good portion of it cheaply. That is what my buddy did when he totaled his M3.
