I may have solved one of the most annoying things about my Z.
I've had a 2005 Z from day one. Like since mile 3. Usually when i buy a car it has 7-10 miles from it getting moved around at the dealership but mine was at either mile 2 or 3. Anyway, had it for like 7 years and barely drove it when the AC started to act up. Basically, I would be driving and the AC would just go on full blast. I could turn it up, down, whatever, didn't matter. It just stayed on all the time. Sometimes, if i wiggled the ribbon cable it would stop, and sometimes it wouldn't. Since I don't drive the car that much it never really bothered me as I could just aim the air at my feet and roll the windows down, or whatever was appropriate for the weather.
Fast forward to last week, I decided to finally do something about it. I'd been searching online for a replacement temperature control module or just ribbon cable, but they were either expensive, used, both, or not available. I got the idea from another thread to try electronics spray. Last week, as I was heading out to drop my car off at my tuning shop, the friggin thing was on full blast and nothing could slow it down. I gave the connectors a good spraying, wiped them w bounty and cleaned w q tips, then gave it a good spraying again, and then used compressed air to dry it. The issue appears to have gone away. I used GUNK electronics spray, q tips, bounty, and air spray to clean computer keyboards.
For a few bucks and 15 minutes of time I'm hoping this issue never comes back. Makes me feel silly when I take my wife out in the Z and she can barely speak to me cause my AC is on full blast. I don't mind if she can't hear me cause my exhaust is loud, or my bass is bumping, but unacceptable if its because of my faulty AC. LoL. Anyway, hope this helps someone out in the future.
