Default Headlights

I am about to get new headlights on my 2003 and the new ones are customized and for a 06-08 year, I found this adapter on eBay and was wondering if you think it would work

because if I don’t have to rewire it myself I would prefer not to

It seems like it should assuming you have an '03 base with factory halogens in it with a 6-pin connector. If you have HIDs in your '03, you won't need that adapter. I'm sure you also aware, but if you don't have OEM HID, then you'll need the ballast and bulb unless those are being included with the new headlights.

Check your VIN then buy the adapters. Performance model (every model but Base) has factory 8-pin HID.

Anything above base had HIDs in 03... does your steering wheel have cruise control? If so, you also have HIDs (8 pin connector)

Go here: https://my350z.com/forum/vindecoder.php

Enter your VIN per instructions. Done. Your trim level will be shown. But as stated above, Any buttons on st wheel indicate a trim above base.... 8-pin HID

OP, it sounds like you don't have a base, so if the headlights in your '03 are original, then you will NOT need that wiring adaptor you originally asked about. It should just be plug n play for your new headlights. You will need to swap over the ballasts and get D2S HID bulbs since your current '03 headlights use a D2R bulb. I would recommend anything between 4300K-5500K bulb temperature for maximum usable light output. The OEM ballasts are 35w so you'll need to stick with that for the D2S HID bulbs you purchase.

Now, if the '06-'08 headlights you are buying are OEM, then there may be one wire you will need to snip on the headlight so that it does not illuminate constantly (much like a DRL) unless you like that look.
