Default Why do people take factory badges off?

Just trying to find out the reason behind this. I have nothing against it. I heard badges are removed to prevent cops from easily identifying a car. Is this correct? Or is it to get a smooth, customized look?
Just curious!

Seems to be a matter of personal preference.

I had not heard of removing badgres to thwart the police.... and of course if I have not heard of it, it's not ture

I never removed a badge from my cars before, but I did remove the front NISSAN because the darn thing is sooooo big, and there is a nice Z logo to use on it's place...

When I first got my Z, I wanted to make the switch to the Z emblems. But after a couple of weeks I grew used to the Nissan ones and actually like them now.

Well, when someone asks me what is the car that I have, what comes out naturally is : "I have a Z..." I don't think of Nissan. I think Z , so for badging, Zeeing it just fits well.

Besides say : "Nissan"
then say
"Z..."

Which is more Bad Azz ?

For a cleaner look and semi-uniqueness. I got lucky because the Roadster does not have two holes underneatch the Nissan "hamburger."

The little nubs left over from the Nissan logo bug me too. I'm sure it would look worse if they weren't filled in, but none of the other Z emblems are like that.

Where I am from some guys De-badge when they have modded
thier cars. I guess they are trying to have a different look.
it's an easy mod to make to the car.

I think it looks cool. If I modded my Z maybe I'd de-badge.

Beautiful work. Was it an easy process to re-badge? Any resources on how to go about it and not mess up your car?

Badges... We don't need no stinkin' Badges!

I debadged my 02 Maxima SE. Thinking of doing the same to the Z. I guess I just don't like excessive emblems, labels and stickers of any kind.
Especially hate it when dealers put a decal with their dealership's name on a car. It makesthe car look like cr*p. Thank god for the ones that just install a license plate frame with the dealership name on it-- at least you can take it off and replace it with a plain one.

It's easy. Lots of dental floss and take your time. Once I got the badges off I used Goof-off to get the remaining adhesive off.
