RPM While Cruising?
I hope this question makes sense. What RPM do you try to hold when you are cruising on a highway at a steady speed? Or on a level street for that matter? I guess i'm concerned with not overstraining the engine and fuel economy. Any info would help.
Ok cool. I try and hold it between 2,500 - 3,000 too. I figure at that rpm i'm not straining it too much and could still take off fairly quickly if I need to. Anyone else?

I don't think you have any worries about straining the engine.
Actually, I try to vary the RPMs. Sometimes I'll run in lower gear just to get the revs up for awhile. I have no idea if varying engine speed really helps; its just an old habit......plus I luv the exhaust note at the higher RPMs!

If I am going from point A to point B on a trip I try to keep it in the highest gear possible to save gas. If I think that I am going to have to pass alot of traffic, I try to keep it between 3000 and 3500 RPMs.
Usually if I'm just cruisin I'm at around 2,100 or so, but on the highway I'm at 2,800-3,000. My gas miliage sucks around 2 G's, So I'm gonna start to cruise at 2,500+ from now on and see whats up - seems to yield better MPG.
lol i guess i am the only one so far i usually cruise around 3500-4500.....i usually like to stay in the powerband.....love to race around in the Z.....but if not usually keap the rpms pretty low....
