Hey guys,

Im in the market for a new set of wheels and just wondering whats the best wheel/tire setups I can run that has little to no tire stretch and retains function of my VDC (I have a track model). I kinda wanna run 235/40R18's (Front) and 255/40R18 (Rear) on 18 x 8.5's (square) +25mm. This setup i feel like would give a nice increase in performance but doesn't break the bank like 18 x 9.5's will.

If you have the stock Track alloys and you only want 8.5s, don't bother, save your money. You have the best performance "narrow" wheels on your Z already. Forged, light, strong. Anything else is a downgrade in 8.5".

I get this is a cost issue but honestly, not worth it. Most aftermarket wheels that are sold in 8.5 are going to be heavier and any gain from a good tire will be negated.

If you wanna play, gotta pay and suggest at least 8.5/9.5 staggered lightweight wheels like Enkei RPF1, Konig Hypergram or Dekagram - all of these roll forged for weight and strength. Run with 245/40-18 F, 275/40-18 R. (The sizes you list are both 1/2" shorter than stock. VDC will work as stagger is within 3% but too short for aesthetics and speedo.) At least with this setup you'll gain some ultimate grip without too much of a weight penalty. 9 out of 10 people who "upgrade" without considering weight makes it worthless coming from Track wheels.

I've kept my track wheels on this whole year, I have a lovely set of aftermarket wheels with summer tires on them... They are 18X9.5+15s and I wouldn't recommend anything smaller.

My only words of advice for anyone in the northeast is get all season tires...

Swapping out wheels every 6 months on a car I hardly ever drive has become a real PITA.
