Default Front bash bar weight and removal

I know this ain a smart idea but really want to remove my Front bash bar and was wondering it by any chance would affect the way the front bumper mounts/sits? The front bash bar doesnt seems like it serves as a mounting point for the front bumper right? I could be wrong, but it didnt seem like it when i took it off, mostly looked like it was held on by the Bolts and clips at the bottom/sides and the clips on Top of the bumper. Also how much does that Crash bar weigh lol

You're right. It ain't, but hey it's your car.
Here's an idea- pitch your spare tire (which will never save your life/car) for a can of Fix-a-Flat. It's even heavier.

I ran w/o one for a while, but it's back in now. Front bumper fit fine.

edit: No clue how much it "flexed" at speed, though...

The front beam is aluminum and light, I wouldn’t remove it.

Remove safety equipment for no gain at all? That's beyond stupid, the car is heavy, deal with it. Want light get a miata or s2000. The one person in this thread that doesn't have it is boosted so it probably interfered with something. Not one person in life plans to crash, hence why it's called an "accident" if you crash without it you can pretty much guarantee a total loss.

that bar saved me from any additional damage at the track. It saved my engine and allowed me to rebuild the front. so logically i vote for you to remove it.

I removed mine but replaced it with a a similar bar to mount an IC. For what it’s worth I put 500miles year on my car and it’s not a daily.

It might be 10lbs or 15lbs … but I did go batshot crazy with weight reduction. There are many other things I’d take off the front of the car before the crash bar. But to each their own, darwin is a son-of-a-botch, and you cant fix stupid.

Not worth removing unless you put another bar there as I think it helps keep the frame ridgid…

I'm running this aftermarket bumper and I think I had to remove it either for my bumper or my intercooler to fit. I don't remember, but it gets held up in the middle with those plastic clips on the radiator support area, so it's not needed to hold the bumper up. I did make a large "washer" to hold up the sides. It's basically shaped like the lip that bolts to the fender. And yes the crash bar will stop the car from being totaled or repairable for the most part in any front end collision.

The front crash bar also supports the foam impact absorber, which helps keep the front fascia rigid. Remove that and you're going to have flexing, even potential vibration/flutter issues at highway speeds. The box bar is aluminum and doesn't weigh much. As jhc mentioned, you're better off pulling out the spare tire. Depending on the year of your Z (03-06), look into the pulley delete. There's all kinds of interesting ways you can shed weight, but this is one area I wouldn't touch for reasons already mentioned.
