Recently bought a 350, past owner said when he got it painted it came back with the ac not working, hot air blows, the system holds freon, and compressor is turning on. No idea whats happening.

Hey David, have you made absolute sure that the system isn’t leaking at all? I would check the fittings, usually you can tell if you have a small leak by an attractive build up of grime that has stuck to the oil where the leak is. If the compressor is indeed coming on you might want to look into recharging your AC.
Other things you could look at are your relay by the bcm, sometimes those go bad.
As stupid as it sounds, do you have a belt?
Have somebody turn on/off the AC while you sit by the front of your car with the hood up. Listen carefully by the front of the engine for a slight click and drop in rpm. That’s your clutch and if you hear this it means that it is indeed working properly. I doubt this would be the issue because clutches almost never fail but this is all I got for you.
Good luck!
