Default Is it okay to take these black things off??

So i currently have my hatch Gutted somewhat and was wondering if its okay to remove these Black Metal covers that seem to have a couple bolts to. Seems like their aernt any welds holding those black peices together or are these structural parts that i should leave alone??

I have them circled in the picture above and planning on taking them off

Correct- those plates offer significant structural reinforcement to the rear cross member. They boost torsional stiffness of the FM chassis and affect handling, so don't delete them.

dont know which post your talking about but Gutting a car is very common in the Z community…… my friends Nismo domz on Youtube has a Gutted Hr under 3000 pounds and when he was FBO no tune he was gapping S550 5.0’s
^ This is his video, oh and btw your other post talked about Z owners under 30 not taking “care of their car and missing peices” well just to let you know my Z was Repainted Daytina Blue Pearl cost about $5k, has a new clutch, Flywheel and etc and has every single Fluid changed Coolant, Brake Fluid, Power steering Fluid, engine oil changed every 3.5k miles and etc. sont judge someone just because he wants to make his car lighter and on these Z’s its very easy ti lose weight fast.

i took them off lol my friend in the video i posted above actually cut off the entire metal bar that runs across the back and says its pretty heavy. We are building our cars for straightlime Speed so handling doesnt matter to me at all. I might jjst cut it off too and the Speaker box area and I’ll probably get to under 3100 pounds. He hasnt had any problems with the rear cross member cut off and those black plates taken off 🙏🏽

with relatively heavy turbo setup I’m down to 2800lbs … but I kept those black reinforcements.

Under 3000lbs is not really a big deal…

That mindset has turned nice drive able cars into junk. You pay somebody to service your car?

i do all the work myself haha, these Z cars are not that as difficult to work on like my 3000gt lol. Havnt work on a car with less working room than a 3000gt or 300zx. And my friend above Nismo domz doesnt do 1/4 mile racing since at our tracks in Cali the covid restriction are super strict and we can only get 1-2 passes in an ENTIRE day…… not worth it at all. We do only roll racung but he has beat 10 Speed 5.0’s too but only close to Stock ones not any E85 Tuned 10 speed 5.0’s

under 3000lbs can make a big difference tho haha. I have a friend with a 300whp Rsx K20/K24 and is only at 2600 pounds and has pulled on cars making 500+hp. Its alp about power to weight 😈

What was the point of this thread?

OP: Can I take these off?
Everyone: No.

OP: I took them off anyway because my friend did who gaps Mustangs blah blah blah runs 10 seconds blah blah blah roll racing on the street blah blah blah.

Why did you bother paying an alleged $5K to respray your car?

Come back to me once your gapping 5.0’s and Snack packs in an NA Z….. oh wait your gonna need Boost to do that in a little DE 🥺
