Drivers side sunshade is "broken"

Default Drivers side sunshade is "broken"

We have a 2006 350z. When we pull he sunshade down it comes out of the place its mounted in the roof. We can shove the metal shaft back into the hole where it belongs but the next time we pull it down it comes out of that hole again and would just hang by the wire that goes to the lighted mirror. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?

Do I have to pull the headline out to do that?

No you do not. There should be a plastic cap/cover you remove exposing two screws that hold the sunvisor mount.

It's a pretty simple process, just be careful with the screwdriver! Don't want to poke any new holes into the headliner.

Has anyone here removed the sun visors permanently? Can you tell me if there is a good way to plug the holes?

You could probably try to 3d print cover plates that utilize the factory mounting screws. This should more or less keep things looking clean. I suppose the larger question would be why? If you want to go full race car mode, the entire interior is usually stripped out (including headliner). So why just the visors? These do come in handy.

This is not something I've done. I'd imagine if you have/can borrow an inside micrometer for the inside measurement, find a plasic cap at Ace Hardware (or online) with a similar outside diameter. The fit would come from tension instead of using screws. No moving parts, should be straight forward!

Removing the visors would be helpful for tall drivers. The visors are in the way, and a distraction with all the warning labels.
