Ok so question for y’all .. recently changed my rack and now my question is , is there any reason the blue top on top of the pinion has like a ardor or line ? How do I make sure why rack is even enough y that when I slip the yoke on it’s all straight ? Here pic you show blue top .. like does it matter or just adjust the tie rod to make everything align? Sorry I hope this all make sense
I can’t remember if that blue dust cap is keyed to the splines or not. I believe the intent is to have the ridge on the cap match the clamp faces on the steering shaft joint, but it’s been a couple years since I replaced my rack.
IIRC both the rack and the steering shaft have one double-wide spline that means they only go together with the steering shaft joint one way…I measured the shaft extension on each side before I tightened the joint just to be sure, anyways.
