Poor fuel consumption after E20 tuned.
Hi,
I Just got 2006 automatic 350z. It was tuned by previous owner to run on E20 fuel (20%Ethanol). It is impressive in performance but poor mileage. I do mostly on city driving but less traffic. Never stop more than one minute on each intersection around 15 mins drive to work. I got around 12 mpg at a normal grandma driving. I don't know if anything can be done with it. Any tuning is possible to get better mileage?. Anyhow, I can live with that by using the other cars some time. Any suggestions are welcome.

Ethanol doesn't provide the same amount of energy when calculated by volume. There are other properties of ethanol that make it great for adding power (especially boosted applications), but as you discovered, fuel economy on ethanol is terrible. Tuning will only yield so much in terms of mpg, it just boils down to physics and chemistry. If you really want better fuel economy, don't use ethanol.

Yes, I know the mpg will be bad. But the car I bought was tuned by previous owner. It was very fun driving this car when I took a test drive. That's why I bought. However it is a little bit more thirsty than I expected.
