misfire changed coils, now i have cam and crank
2004 Roadster, has 120K , always runs perfectly. Started to misfire, I cleaned the injectors, changed plugs, then found a bad #2 coil. Changed that and it ran fine for 10 minutes then missed again. This time the #1 Coil was bad, changed that and it ran great for 5 minutes, then it barely ran and it threw 2 cam and 1 crank sensor code. I can't even start it now.
How can these sensors get smoked so quickly? Manual says check grounds, which I did. Can it be the Alternator is passing AC and smoking everything? Any0ne see this weird stuff?
OH, and right when this happened, it got really hard to crank over. I tried a charge pack and that didnt' help, which makes it seem like there is a bad ground somewhere. I changed terminals, cleaned the grounds on the body. still nothing

It's pretty common for 350Zs to require full cam and crank sensor replacement as they age and/or the mileage piles up. Consider it part of a major 120k service. Replace all cam and crank sensor with new OEM units. Since you also replaced two coil packs, I would replace the remaining 4. I can't stress enough how important it is to use OEM sensors on these cars. You can probably get by safely with aftermarket coils, but considering how long the OEM parts last, I wouldn't risk it. Folks usually end up chasing their tails when using aftermarket parts. The problem appears to be fixed for a short time, then things get even worse after days or even weeks. This leads to more parts canon shananigans. Just be happy it's not a BMW N52/N54, those things chew through coil packs.
But, for good measure, I would still check over all the ground straps to the engine block. The starter is grounded through the block and I believe the ignition system may also be grounded through the block.

Wow, that's' really good info Thanks.. its really weird how they happen at onece... I changed a coil then the other failed within 10 minutes.. changed the other coil, and the cams and crank sensor failed within 5 mintues... I'm trying to figure out what is smoking them?
