I have a ‘03 manual Z, I’ve been having problems with my slip light coming on and feeling like it’s in neutral. It usually happens in 4-6th gear so I thought it was something with the transmission but I had a bunch of parts replaced and did not solve it. Eventually a technician at a shop said it might be the led strips which I installed installed myself in the headlights and they could be messing with something. Could anyone confirm or deny this? If the led strip itself is the problem, would other strips or buying headlights that are custom from a company with led strips still work or is it something with my car that could be changed?
That's a new one to me. I've heard of aftermarket LED tails wreaking havoc on the cruise control but never LED headlight strips causing issues with the VDC/TCS.
How are the strips wired to illuminate?
You could always do the simplest troubleshooting and disconnect them to see if the SLIP light goes off.
I would disconnect the headlights completely to rule them out. I suspect you tapped into the headlamp harness directly for the LED strips. I've done a similar mod in the past with front bumper reflector LED lamps, I tapped into my turn signal wiring at the headlamp. It never caused any issues for me, worked perfectly. I personally think the headlight mod you did is not the culprit. Something else drivetrain related would be my guess. Bad wheel speed sensor, mismatched tires/wheels, something like that.
Cheers!

That’s another thing that baffles me which I forgot to mention, so far whenever I put it in cruise control it has never slipped. If that’s a tell for anything I am not sure.

Not really. I say disconnect the LED strips and see if the SLIP light still comes on.

Did you wire it in a way that makes it impossible to disconnect?
