Default Broken Connector

Hello,

Was curious if anyone would be able to identify what this hose and connector was? It is broke off and I'm going to need to take it into get it looked at for some other stuff but I noticed this completely broken off. I was hoping to at least identify with a part was initially before taking into a mechanic.

The car recently stopped the street and after trying to get it jumped again in a new battery it will turn over but nothing else. Wondering if this was a culprit for it not finishing to turn over.
Thanks for any advice and/or suggestions. Not very mechanically inclined but would like to have to an idea before sending to a mechanic. ;-)

ThanksJohn

After some additional investigation I have found this is most likely the PVC valve .. Looks like a relatively easy fix so I may go grab the part before having someone come take a look.

I've been looking up some of the information and from what I've seen faulty PCP valve can cause idling issues or backfire but shouldn't necessarily cause the engine just not to turn over so it probably is not my initial problem but I suppose it could be a contributing factor.

Tat's the PCV vale, and no, it won't cause the car to not turn over. It is a massive vacuum leak, so it will cause the car to not run right. Dying while running could be hundreds of things. Need to check for codes.
