Default How bad is this damage?

Some jackass who it looks like might not have insurance destroyed the rear left end of my car and I only have liability so I'm ****ed. Never had an accident with this car driving in the 10+ years I owned this until now. The question is, how bad does this look and do you think there will be frame damage at all? Would a replacement bumper and taillights line up? Ugh. The right taillight now doesn't work either and I think it came from this accident. The left headlight low beam bulb was already having problem (which is probably the ballast) before the accident and now it doesn't work either so I think it was the impact that destroyed everything.

It probably won't line up, but the car still probably drives straight.
Backyard mechanic me would put a piece of wood inside with a plate back and have an eye come through the rear. Attach that to a chain and to a tree and give it some yanks
"straightened" a wrangler frame this way and a kia spectra

Then throw some carbon fiber rear fender overlays on it. Boom brand new car

Quarter panels buckled. Can it be fixed? of course but thats a lot of work and insurance will total it. Part it out. Time for a new project.

Well, I hope you at least have the guy's real name and actual address. If he doesn't have insurance, sue the snot out of him. If he's got no money, you'll still have a judgement you can use to garnish wages (unless he pays all his money in child support). I guess now you know why my uninsured motorist premium increases every year.

and as a side note always pay for limited collision. Its cost is very low and pays when the accident is not your fault and you know who hit your vehicle.

Can't imagine not having full coverage on anything that costs more than $5k.

With the bumper and tail-light still mounted, it's hard to say. Clearly damage to the rear quarter/fender. A skilled bodyshop could fix this though. The main concern would be suspension geometry in the rear. A lot of the upper rear corners on 350Zs is hollow sheet metal (crumple zones). Pulling, cutting, and welding patches would be required since this is all unibody structure. Unfortunately the costs of that skilled labor is high and the vehicle value in the eyes of the insurance company does not justify the repair. Can it be done? Yes....the real question is "should" it be fixed?

So you have options:
1) Get payout from insurance & purchase another Z, maybe same color & year. Buyback the wreck from insurance & transfer any goodies/upgrades you have from old to new Z (I did this when my 1st Z was totaled).
Note: This option requires time, storage space, mechanical skills, lots of tools, organizational skills, & patience. Not always possible.
2) Get your payout from insurance, scrap the car, and try to find another Z and start fresh or go in a different direction.
3) Get your payout from insurance, buyback the wreck, pay out of pocket for a bodyshop to try and repair.

If you really love Z33s, option 1 & 2 is probably the best. Insurance only wanted $1000 for my wrecked Z and I've already salvaged well over 3k of parts from it and sold $1500 worth of parts in just the past few weeks. That's after I took all the goodies I wanted to keep for my replacement Z (Brembo brakes, MREV2, exhaust, rear differential, and many more). Duplicate parts I don't want to keep as spares, I'm slowly selling.

Whatever you choose, good luck!

Near 20 year old non-collectible 350Z with rear double wall fender damage will never be fixed by an insurance company.

Part out or settle with insur.... oh wait, no collision but maybe you have UI, else it's done.

He has a fake address. The address on the insurance card is a mobile home park with no unit number. I got totally ****ed over.

Maaco just quoted me about 5-6k. Do you think a shop would work on it just to make it legal to drive again? How much would that cost?
