Unhappy How many of you are nervous about....

putting all these expensive goodies on your car?

So many people drive like azz holes and I find myself driving so

defensively it's not even funny, I can't even imagine if some one

caused an accident and hurt my baby.

I had two close calls lately and I pray I stay out of a mess

It just seems like most drivers mannors on the road have gone

out the window

Am I the only one feeling this nervousness or are their other???

A lot of people out there are horrible drivers, but you can't let that stop you from modding your car. You need to enjoy your car. And if modding the car is something you enjoy, you shouldn't miss out on that just because other people suck.

Doesn't bother me abit. I don't think drivers are any better/worse than in previous eras.

pay attention & you'll be fine.

Worse cames to worse there is a reason we have insurance.

Try riding a motorcycle. You'll be even more aware of how badly most people drive.

Be as vigilant as possible, look way ahead, plan way ahead,........and keep your fingers crossed.

My main fear at times is that the insurance will not reimburse for a

$5,000 super charger or what not, so what I'm trying to say is

that if you sink 5-10k into your car and someone totals your car

you'll end up eating the cost of alot of the mods you bought and

the time invested in getting your baby to look the way you like it

I know if its going to happen its going to happen its just kinda

scary to think of losing so much b/c of someone elses

carelessness

Advise the insurance company that you have increased the value of your vehicle by what ever amount. If they don't have an endorsement available to cover it, find another carrier.

One person on this board posted something that I've taken to heart since I read it.

Look at other cars/drivers on the road as moving obstacles. That's it. Not as fellow humans. Helps keep you a little more vigilant, and also helps keep emotions out of the way when you have to avoid an obstacle.

to add to dchengmd. stay off the horn. I see so many drivers 10x more ocupied with honking their horn rather than avoiding the accident. the horn has its purpose to signal your presence. but often its used when its too late and its time to get the hell out of the way.

with that said, I keep receipts of all parts on the car, and they are all recorded with the insurance. when/if I get a SC/TC this might have to be reviewed, as that would probably change the premiums substantially. but for things like rims(easily stolen) or boltons(somewhat cheap) I keep them insured.

Default Adding mods can help you get out of trouble

hey Z Shadow,

I am from long Island and now live in south Florida. Speed limit is 70mph! Driving age is 15 and many people over 75 still drive. I have been down here for 5 years and witnessed 3 accidents right in front of me.

All of them I avoided. One was in my brothers Audi. I think if I was driving my old car I might have smacked right into a bad accident doing about 45mph. But the Audi performance and handling helped me get out of it.

My point is adding mods that effect performance will help you stay out of those close calls.

After adding a few mods you will have more options with your car to avoid obstacles. My next BIG item I buy is going to be some nice 14 inch break set.

It will cost me $2500 + but stopping a few feet short of a car once will pay for it.

I also agree with all others. Keep your eyes open. Even at green lights I am looking for cars coming from both sides at thier red.

Hey Tat

Becareful down there b/c my father in law is lurking some where

near Ft. Lauderdale

I visited him with my wife once and your right I think once you hit

retirement and move down there the ability to look over your

shoulder to merge or change lanes is out the window. I guess

they figure I'm ahead of you so you better let me in cause I'm not

stopping

Enjoy sunny Fla, the roads up here are the worse I've seen in a

long time

Yup yup, can and does happen. And how about dropping $500+ on a lip and having it cracked to pieces b/c of a steep drop in the street? Or having really expensive wheels (which I love, btw) that get curbed...and then ya gotta go and spend a fortune to have that fancy gunmetal finish repainted lol. Half the time these things are the driver's fault...but it still sucks.
