This thing is very noisey on these cars. Sometimes you just kind of have to slap it or move it around and the noise goes away

Are you guys talking about that big sway bar going across? Seems fine to me when I grab and shake it. Anything in particular I should look out for?

The black plastic piece with the 10mm hex heads (screws/bolts) is part of the rear tail-light assembly.

So once Again I just drove my car after jts been sitting in the sun for hours and rattling ans creaking is 100% gone.

I'm almost convinced its the suspension as mentioned above. What else could be so temperature sensitive?

The 3rd brake light & plastic shield will be heavily impacted by temperature changes. This is one of the 1st items I mentioned in your other post. A simple test for the shield/shade you can do is wedge something soft between the glass and plastic shade piece (obviously nothing so large that you permanently deform the piece or scratch the glass). Sometimes this will stop the noise. That being said, what I discovered in my case, was the 3rd (high mount) light itself or more specifically the plastic frame for the LED light bar was rubbing/tapping against the metal of the hatch. To test and verify you would need to remove some of the paneling on the hatch to gain access to the 3rd brake light.

I remember checking the 3rd brake light like you said but the plastic cover doesn't seem to move around at all. But I'll try wedging something in it either way to test. Have to wait to next morning or tonight when it gets colder again

Haha 😄 it would be hilarious if this rattle drives me so insane id actually decided to part out what is otherwise a mint condition 350z . Even the Nissan service department told me they haven't seen one in such perfect condition since they were new.

Also by "hilarious" i mean "sad".

Update: I managed to reach back and hold the third brake light cover in place while driving and it wasn't the cause of the rattle. Bad news is I aggravated my bad shoulder doing that.

But here's the thing : I never had this rattle on my 2004 350z. It had other issues sure, but never any rattle in the trunk.

If you're saying its jsut the plastic contracting wouldn't everyone have this same rattle ? Assuming they live somewhere where it gets even remotely cold like 60f

different cars, maybe one has had more panels removed for whatever reason.. hell you could have 2 new ones off the lot at the same time and they will have different quirks

Yeah might be more of an issue with the HR models? I saw some old old threads on here from like 2008 and brand new 350z had this same rattle. One guy even tried going thru lemon law procedures and njssan just sent him a $3k check.

I wonder if any kf those people ever figured out what it was

You are letting these noises stress you out. There will always be noises, creaking, squeaking on mostly any car. Especially when they are old regardless of the miles on it. Just enjoy and drive that beautiful piece metal

I've had early 33s, even a flexi-flyer 33ZR, three HR cars, a VHR.

Not one had any squeaks or rattles.

You must have gotten one of that run of late 33s that were built with a death rattle that they couldn't ever fix. There was a TSB on it but remedies from Nissan ended in like 2024 for Z33 and the few Z34s affected. .

@travlee Ahh, so you finally traded up that Carvett for that Joke, er, Juke you've been wanting? And now maybe you're thinking that HR you outbid me on might fit in it? Nice!
