And she thinks it's "bouncy"
So I go out on this casual date. She inspects the car and comments casually that it is nice when she steps in. I am speeding up on a not so balanced highway and she says : "Why is this car bouncy?"
I look at her and I was about to bounce her out the window
Don't like criticizing first dates ...
In any case, I read about some Zs being bouncy. Never found mind to be that compared to a 993 I had. But that was some time ago....so maybe I do not remember. Are there stock suspensions that are less bouncy than others or something ? How can I check about this first date infused paranoia
?
But hey at the end things were pretty "bouncy"
so it's all good...

People have said changing to some of the aftermarket springs or coilover setups stop the bounce.
I'm personally going to replace the shocks with something like the soon to be released SA Konis. This should stop the problem.
The 2004s are supposed to be better on this. I think they've got a bit softer spring/shock combo that is better matched. The 2003s shocks aren't stiff enough for the OEM springs to control the rebound.
Some people deny this happens on some cars, though
It is different than complaining the suspension being too stiff, because that isn't the issue. IMO, it needs to be slightly stiffer to fix it in the shock category.

If you ask me, my 04 Z is very bouncy to me compared to my 02 Maxima and the 03 Altima 2.5S loaner I had recently. It's also bouncier to me than any other non Z that I've owned or driven in the past.
I rode in a coworker's 03 Z a few times and found it to be reasonably bouncy too (hard to do a direct comparo though since we went over some different roads).

First, how much does she know about cars? I would`nt going installing a new suspension system just because some chick I took on a date thought my suspension seemed "bouncy" to her.

I won't change the suspension because she said it's bouncy. She got me thinking about it as I haven't really noticed, that's all. I am trying to gage what is considered bouncy and what is not.

Get a couple of those Sport's figures with the Spring in the neck.. Tape them on the dash and the rear strut bar..
The term Bobble Head Sports Figures is common.
Of course if the girl is big busted, the results could be distracting.
Ha !
Cheers Amy

Explain to her that she is sitting in a street legal race car. The bounciness is a product of the suspension which will eat up most cars on the track. Also, tell her that your car has feelings, and she hurt them by saying that. She will feel bad, and give you hea

I think I will have women hurt my feelings and those of my Z on purpose in some way. Then, use that sentence of yours and get some consolation, or maybe a couple of slaps

This is my 7th Z....and yea, it is FAR more "bouncier" than any of the others. It is at it's worse on cement highways with their seams. Rides real smooth on tarred tops. The worst "feeling" with the bounce is when you're coming off an exit made of concrete and trying to power thru the green light left turn at the bottom....ughhh. Almost feels like the car is gonna slide out from under you on one of its bounces!
I've noticed a so-called "bounce" when on roadways with expansion joints close to one another, like on a cement roadway as has been described (in Nashville, it is I-440). I would tire of that quickly if that is the only kind of roads we had. However, travelling it has never resulted in any fringe benefits, so to speak, but hey, I don't have to ask...
Its funny how my girlfriend says the exact "OPPOSITE". She said she better enjoy the smooth ride more now before I put in my TEINs. Maybe its because she got used to my previous car that was riding on Eibach & Koni.
i own a tire shop in the sf bay area.
my z is an 04 roadster that came w/ factory 18's
get rid of the tires if u want to make the car ride and perform better.
the factory bridgestone tires are sooooo stiff in the sidewall that it makes the car bouncy or too stiff.
the sidewalls are as stiff as a run-flat tire that we put on vettes.
as soon as i took off the bridgestones, the car ran 50% smoother on the road.
