Default Damn kickplate sucks.

I tried to installed it and a few of the TABS broke off. Anyone else having the same problems? They are even more flimsy than the original. Anyway I'm waiting for the krazy glue to dried.

I ordered kickplates from my dealer after I took delivery of my car. Just picked them up the other day. I was really disappointed, they weren't near what I thought they would be. Decided I liked the original ones better and just put the others up for now.

I almost ordered some kick plates for my Z but I decided to pass on them since I didn't think I'd have the doors open long enough for most people to even see them. Sorry to hear they are so fragile.

Yea, mine is already cracked - but they were installed at the port. Freakin' cheap things.

Yea...I will have to look more closely tomorrow since I just noticed this crack today, but it almost looks like it's covered in some type of plastic...Cuz I know metal doesn't crack like it did on my kickplate.

I'm 99% sure it is a very thin piece of brushed aluminum

The good thing about buying them separate from the car, is you've got the old ones as replacements.

Cheap? Yea, I'd have to agree. But I do think they might add a little to the look of the Z when the door is open.

Three metal clips (metal over a piece of plastic) and one plastic clip are what holds them in place. So if a few of the tabs break off (like what happened to Seattle), there isn't much left to hold it in place.

Hate to tell you guys this, but I'm pretty sure they will scratch very easy. We have already taken some apart for fun But it was fun to take them apart;/

how did you break the tabs?

I've installed door sills before and it seems easy just be careful where you place them while pushing them into the inserts.

I know I don't own a 350z and not their to witness it but I don't think it would be hard put in as long as your careful...

Maybe Wadd3456 can make us some replacement aluminum tread inserts, to replace the scratched ones.

The ones he sells will scratch REALLY easily.

Now sure safeway to get around it with out covering the aluminum.

I had JDM door sills in my celica and its aluminum I just make sure everyone steps over the door sill.

Yes the tred plate as a SILL may scratch easy, but i can make them out of any metal you want. What is the stock metal?
