17" Wheel Weight Question?
Hello,
Can somebody tell me how much the Stock 2004 Enthusiast 17" wheels weight with the tires on them? I was interested to see, I looked all around the Z website and could not find the information. Thanks!

well if i was to buy the stock 18" 6 spoke off the Touring model, will my speedometer be messed up since the differnece from my 17's to 18's? if so how do i go about fixing it?

Speedo will read 1.6% too slow, or 60mph when you are travelling 61.0.
Dealer may be able to compensate.
I'd rather have the speedo read faster than slower...

No they certainly don't have 2 speedo calibrations.
If you have the 17s, you may be indicating 63.2 mph at an actual 60.0mph while with the 18s you may be showing 62.4 mph. Drop 5 psi from your tires and all of a suddent you're indicating 63.6 mph. There are a lot of variations and speedos are never that accurate. The rule (there is a law about this) is that the speedo can be fast by a certain amount (I can't remember what the limit is but it's pretty high deviation) but it can't read slow. So all (stock) cars have optimistic speedos when they leave the factory (BMWs are know for this).

Well another question. I am wanting to ship my 17" wheels, does anybody know the actual weight of the tire and rim together? I know the rear will be a little heavier, but was trying to estimate UPS shipping rate? Thanks!

rims are around 21lbs. the 18" tread weighed 26lbs. 17" will be a tad heavier with the additional .5" of sidewall. Id say 27 or 28.
the 17" does have 235rear rather than 245, but all in all, itll even out with the extra sidewall.
Id call the 50lbs estimate pretty accurate and would expect 60-100$ to ship it all.
FYI I havent personally weighed the 17"rim but I have personally weighed the 18" rim at 25lbs and the 18" tread at 26lbs. tires are heavier than youd think.

The tires are definitely in the low to mid 20 lb range (the Toyo T1-S is 21-22 lbs for the 17" tire sizes). The 17" rims are cast aluminum so I'd expect them to weigh more than 25 lbs if you take into consideration the light-weight RAYs are about 18 lbs. 45-50lbs is a good approximation.
