Angry First Hit....

I have to vent....

It had to happen espacially in Beirut, Lebanon. Driving here is akin to war. Anyway, there are traffic lights on 30% of roads that do need traffic lights. However, 90% of cars do not stop when it is red. If you do stop, most of the time, people will honk at you!

So it was raining, I reached a traffic light with some traffic around me. Intersection is busy so collectively, the cars around me stop (this is how it usually happens if cars stop or not, kind of a collective decision depending on the context). Behind me was a Grand Cherokee. A car behind the Jeep skids, bams the Jeep and the Jeep rear ends me. My car is two weeks old.

Damage I saw, broken rear bumper, slight damage to the plastic part around the plate and the foam under the bumper is torn at one place. Doubt anything happened to the metal. The shop said that the foam does not need changing. Anything I should be aware of for the fix ?

Never stopping at a red light again

PS: Driving in Lebanon is like a jungle but the country is beautiful.

that blows. They should replace the whole rear bumper. Did you take it to a nissan dealer or a random body shop?

Took it to the Nissan dealer. They will replace the whole bumper. Under the bumper there are like foam blocks for buffer and protection I guess. There is like a slight dent / tear in a small part of the foam. The dealer has no foam but said that the foam "fracture" is nothing and they would only give me a 100% perfect job. Any comments on the foam? Should I go through the trouble of ordering foam etc etc?

Optional, but you find that most drivers have. His insurance is paying but if they "fail" in any aspect I can have pay for it. No depreciation on parts, no deductable and no "bad points"

I'd have the foam replaced.
Even if it is slightly damaged, it's damaged. you cant say if the integrity of the foams safety purpose has been compromised.

Your car is 2 weeks old, Brand new. Repairs should bring your car to the exact condition it was in prior to the accident.
