Installing Lowering Springs in Northern VA
I'm looking to install some lowering springs, but find it insane that shops want $300+ for something that cost me $150. If anyone in the DC area, or within 120 mile radius of DC is good at installing springs, and would be nice enough to help me out, please let me know. I'm trying to get these on before the Z meet which is on Sunday March 13. Thanks a lot.
That's way better than here. $240 including alignment.. here they want $300 for the spring install, then another $100.00 for alignment. So a total of roughly $400. Another place wanted $600!

i dunno much about the Z... but i changed the suspension out on my celica a good 3-4 times and after a while i kinda got the hang of it... i have a garage and haven't really taken the wheels off to look at how hard the job is... the only thing i can think of is renting out a spring compressor for the front struts but other than that it seems like a fairly simple install if you're mechanically inclined...
as for alignments i used to go to Merchants tires, i had a $20off coupon so it came out to $55 bucks and that includes however many alignments you want for a year. :-D
hope this helps... and see you saturday!

Check with Jeff, I'm getting my S-tech springs in on wednesday, and hopefully installed on Thursday or Friday.
Then just go by dealership to get alignment. Brown's Arlington charges $70 for it.

Try Datsun Dynamics. I doubt you'll pay less than $300 for the install, but they're the only shop I've used that has given my car a good alignment. The alignment is $100 by itself, but they get it right. I'd never trust a $40 alignment.

I'm not too concerned about the alignment, I'll end up getting it from goodyear. They do a pretty decent job.. I'm trying to avoid the installation charge. So if anyone here feel comfortable with installing the springs, it would help me a great deal. Especially since I just ran into another huge expense, which will leave me with a empty wallet.

TakeiteZ, thanks a lot for the offer, but I really would feel more comfortable with someone who has worked with the Z's suspension, just incase something goes wrong, and since all suspensions are different.
The car meet is on Saturday, and I have all day Friday I'll be out of town getting my "secret work" done.. so I have untill Thursday to get these springs on, and with the additional expense I ran into yesterday, Im near broke for now
