She's so sweet, she can get out of any ticket. You might want to find out who her hairdresser is and go to them. Then you'll look like her and never get pulled over. OH, you say you're a guy, oh well, put the front plate on then.

Another idea...
I want to get plastic bolts with a plastic washer so the vents in the front grille can hold the plate without drilling any holes.
Bolt | Washer
Plate ------ | <-- behind the vents in bumper.

Know what I mean?

Maybe a slightly better solution.
I bought a "universal license plate bracket" from my local auto parts store. It was like $1.69. A long plstic thing..about the length of the plate and about 2 1/2 inches wide with a bunch of holes and slots.
I installed this to the grill just like in the earlier posts in this thread...long bolts and wing nuts through the plastic on either side of the tow hook area. Then I installed the the plate with a rigid metal black frame around it to this bracket. It brings the plate just a bit foward and off the grill and helps keep it from tilting...I had this problem with tilting when I tried to intalll just the plate and bracket. The black frame blends with the grill and makes the plate a little less ugly.

Hi Bill,
Thanks for this front plate mounting info . I have posted it in my favorites section for when my Silverstone arrives here in NH ( Nov.13-I hope ) I had a quick question - is the original factory plate bracket ( the one that is suppose to go on the front bumper) also mountable the same way ? It appears that you used a regular chrome plate holder . Maybe use longer bolts to compensate for the depth of the factory plate holder? Or would it work with your three inch bolts ? I went out and got the bolts and wing nuts already . Did you put a washer in front of the wingnuts to hold them more flush ? Do you need a washer there ? Thanks for any info you can send !

Thanks Bill!
GREAT info Bill! Thanks...
My only concerns would be:
Is necessary airflow to the radiator impeded?
How does it look from a distance?
If you could post a couple of more pics that would be appreciated.
BY THE WAY...I am a police sergeant in New York State. Although officers don't generally look to ticket cars without a front plate (it IS the law by the way), the Z will attract enough attention and scrutiny where I believe you will be issued a ticket for no front plate...along with speeding most likely! Why invite a hassle? Put the plate on.
FWIW
70 zcar (stock, award winner)
78 zcar (modified, fast)
84 zcar (turbo, driver)
03 zcar (Enthusiast, February!)
ALL WITH FRONT PLATES!

For those of you who didn't see my fix, here is the photo again.. I took the factory license plate frame and, using heavy duty Ty-wraps, fastened it thru the grill right in the center. It's a solid mount and have not had any problems with air being blocked thru the front grill.. If you have any questions, drop me a note at k2we@aol.com for more detail.

Tow Hook Thingy
I purchased a extra tow hook (approx$35) cut it off and added a plate to hold the licence plate to. I am currently having is sent out to be powder coated black to match the Z but it looks very nice and is very easy to remove- no body will ever know if you go to sell or show the car. If any questions contact me @ kooch1976@hotmail.com in subject put Z350 Tow Hook Thingy....

Front License Plate
If you get stopped for not having a front license plate, it's a fix-it ticket.
Get some velcro. Stop about a block away from the police department where they have to see that the plate is on before they sign off the fix.
Velcro the plate on, and drive slowly so it doesn't fall off. Once it gets signed off, pull over a block away from the police station, and take the velcro and plate off. You're home free! Trust me, it works. I've done it twice!

tow hook
AudioPat from California is in the process of manufacturing a bracket that attaches to the tow hook . As of now , no finished product yet . As K2we said , the ty wrap method works just fine , but to me this is only a temporary fix .I'm waiting for a tow hook bracket and ty wrapping for the present . Keep it off the bumper! It looks so much better !
