Default How I would like it to look...

Back in January of 2001, I took a hard look at the Z and wasn't 100% happy with what Nissan did, so I opened up photoshop and went to town with it.. Okay, I was bored, it was winter break, and yes there were some things I didn't like ...

Before
Supplied by nissan...

After
I do like the lines of the Z, just not too happy with the rear, so I went with a 550 Maranello style rear.. And for the front, I cut the lights back a little, and added a front lip.. I also shaved the door handles a little...

Ive owned 2 nissans prior to getting the TT and was not happy with the way I was treated when I reported a defect with my maximas paint job.. After about a year of ownership (it was a brand new car, 99 GLE) the paint began chipping everywhere.. I Showed 3 dealerships (all of whiched tried blaming me or the environment, never got a straight answer).. Eventually nissan sent a rep to look at the car, and he determined the paint was chipping because of various environmental elements.. Pretty heart breaking considering how well I took care of this car (washed almost every weekend.. hey it was black).. Needless to say I was furious due to the fact and decided to step away from the Nissan line.. Overall though, I was happy with my maxima.. it did have a greatengine 190hp version though that took a beating (I can only imagine how the Zs engine can be), and she also won me a couple of auto-x events.. Yes, big time shocker when the 4dr family car equiped with nothing but kumho 712s was beating a few sports cars .. It was certainly a blast but was never as much fun as the TT ..

But everyone seems to miss the point with the styling of the 350Z. It is NOT a copy of the Audi TT or the Lexus SC430, the Z has been around for DECADES PEOPLE. The greenhouse and roof area is ALL 300ZX, with front end and lights O.G. 240-280 Z. If anything all the other cars have been biting the Z's style for years.

Sorry dude but you ruined the car.

First the Z emblem on the side is gone...That has to be there...
Second, what did you do to the headlights? They are probably like 3 inches judging from the picture.
Third, the front lip looks kinda ricey...
And the Rear...Come on dude, its a hatchback, not a sedan...

Your duck tail is too retro for me. Sorry, I like the car the way it is from Nissan.

Thanks for sharing.

Actually, I think your version is pretty cool. Some things I like
your way, some things the original way.

But, man, what were you thinking posting it here -- you KNOW
you're going to get majorly flamed!

First, your ideas suck, flame flame flame. It looks like some retro piece a ****. Sorry you weren't 100% happy. I read this post when it was originally posted and ignored it, how in the hell does crap like this resurface? This how Nissan is delivering it, Deal with it! If you dont like it, don't buy it, maybe theres a Yugo inyour future.

uhhh ........ i was thinkin.... the 350Z is just a bit too small and I'd realy like to be able to take my friends for a ride and... uhhh well...... I just think Nissan missed on a few minor things. So I whipped out my "U-Design-It" car program and came up with this.

Now I can take the wife and kids, family dog, mother-in-law and her 150lb suitcase.

Just a thought... maybe Nissan will bite?

(sorry... just had too)

I think it was implied with your statement of "not too happy with the rear, so I went with a 550 Maranello style..." This, meaning that you wanted to copy another style. The point LA-Z is making is that the Z is unique from any and every other car. That rear end is one of the distinguishing features of the new Z.

I would say the "after" image completely ruined the looks of the 350Z's rear end. The new "gentle" back window ruins the side lines, and the front body kit ruins the front end. It almost looks like a squashed Corvette... almost.

Although it was a nice chop job, the results were not too favorable.

Regards,
Todd
