I ordered my car on 9/7/2002 after seeing the first ones come into the dealer. However, it was strongly suggested to me (no, not by the dealer but by other customers) that my dealer had sold out their allocation for months to come and even though they have my $500 deposit they won't give me an order date. They are only saying that they expect the car to be delivered within 90 days of their having placed the order. When I press the dealer on it all I get back is vague "Nissan told us we had to do it this way". The dealer denies that they have sold out their allocation. They just say that they are the largest dealer in several states and they get more cars than any other dealer within several states. They are also seriously pushing LOJACK which seems like an excellent idea even if it is $800 - $1,000.

 

Which dealership did you goto?

I ordered mine this past friday at VOB Nissan in Rockville with a $500 deposit and I was quoted a Feb 03 - March 03 delivery date. They said that the order wouldn't be placed until November. They didn't press anything extra on the car either.

Rosenthal in gaithersburg required a 5K deposit and they were installing LOJACK and misc stuff for 1K extra as well.

 

I ordered mine from Herb Gordon. They are pretty good people to deal with so far. I have been led to believe that I could also expect to see my car in the February - March, 2003 time frame.

 

Hopefully it'll come in at that time as well then.

If they're pushing LOJACK, that's one thing. But if they don't give you a choice, like a few dealers around here are doing, that's a scam to make more money off desperate buyers.

 

All 3-4 nissan dealerships around here in Oklahoma City keep telling me 90days 90days.....

I ask if they can put that in writing and GUARANTEE it... they say no, its a MINIMUM of 90days and can't say exactly when I would get the car if I ordered it. Errrrr

One salesman tells me that they already have one on order and should arrive in 60days... B.S.? I think so...

I guess I'll have to talk to my brother-in-law's brother who is NEW CAR MANAGER at a nissan dealership... I'll get to the bottom of this!
