I just remember a girl saying "That car looks like a wanna-be Fast and Furious car, but isnt" and that about sums it up ahah I bought my Z because I love it and didnt really consider other cars (I might have looked at cars at dealerships) but I knew I wanted the Z. If you feel the same then get a Z but it sounds like you want an STI so go buy the STi and have fun in your new ride

I just wanted an opinion from from a 350z owner...why would i buy a 35-z over a sti...thankx guys...

Considering you're new to the forum, here's two pieces of advice.

Try using this little button in the upper right hand corner of the screen - it's called a "SEARCH" function -- because this sti vs 350z topic is just rediculously tired at this point.

Also, you sound like HP and 0-60 + 1/4 mile times are what matter to you - buy a SRT-4 for about 20k, then spend a couple of thousand in modding -- then you'll have something that's faster than an Sti, 350z, whatever else you want to compare it to

Why buy an STi when you can buy a neon for 10K cheaper? Why buy a Neon when you can buy a bike for $10K cheaper? Why are we feeding the stupid trolls every time they ask these dumb questions?

ya get a duccati or hiabussa(sp?). I for one, dont need to worry about catching birds in my hood scoop. good thing the Z doesnt have a hood scoop cause hood scoops are ugly.

BTW, I actually like the STi, and while it does look a little too boy-racer for me, at least it's got personality (love it or hate it), and if I lived somewhere else, I might consider it. But, this thread is still stooopid.

I sat in one the other day at the Sube dealer (a friend is buying a wrx wagon - dont ask) And to be honest, I liked it. I wouldnt want it, because I already have a Z, but if it were priced better I would have definately considered it.

HOWEVER:

I wanted a sports car. To me, that means two doors, two seats, at least a nicely tuned six (with exception to the Elise).

I did not want to buy an overboosted 4 cyl (STi, Evo) which had very little room for safe improvement in performance.

AWD isnt as fun as RWD, unless the AWD has alot more than 300 hp.

AWD = more things to upgrade if you up the HP, and more things to break if you dont upgrade the right things.

If your happy with 300hp, the subaru is a car you buy and leave stock. Its not ugly by any stretch (Z owners get defensive sometimes) but it sure isn't as pretty as the Z (there, I said it). The STi is the undercover racer car, pretty sleeper minus the wing. The Z looks like its 20 over the speed limit while parked, so it wins in the ***** factor area.

When I see a person who judge cars with only speed, I often see his girlfriend who only have huge chest with nothing more. just like STI.
and I see Z lover with a cute face, nice booty girl just like our Zs.

Sometimes i feel like Z isn't fast as its look but Z isn't all about just "new" slick fast japanese car. It has own legendary history. Just like Mustang in the us, it has all generation fans. for example, you dad may wanted to buy Z long time ago but he coulnd't bcuz he just god a new baby, you.
If you just like fast car, go for it. I like a car with history, with its own attitude, with its own design. its a full package. not for quarter mile life only.

Just my opinion. Nothing offensive or defensive issue.

Try taking a cool picture of an STI and you'll see why I bought my Z.

Hey guys,

I am an owner of an STI and a heavily modded Supra (hence my screenname). I am getting ready to trade the STI in on a new track model Z. I'm 32 years old and feel like I'm driving a car made for some of the big wing honda boys. The Z definately looks better and is more refined but I hate to say, that for being only a claimed 13hp less, it feels WAY slower than my STI. I highly doubt they are the same speed from a roll like one of the previous posts stated. Nevertheless, the STI is getting traded in when they find me a track model Z.

Just because a car FEELS faster doesn't mean it always is.

Very true, although most tests I've seen have given the edge to the STI in quarter mile times by usually 3 or 4 mph and about 6 tenths in et. I'm sure the Nissan just felt that way because of the lack of turbo lag and a more linear powerband.

Yea, no doubt the STi is faster from a dead stop ... thats what AWD is for. Cant say about a 60 roll though ...

Well, the fact that the STI has tested with fast mph numbers in the 1/4, is usually an indicator that it will be faster from a roll. I'm sure they are very close though. I hope they are close, hell, I'm trading in my STI for one!
