I Thought The Rx8 Was The Car Of The Year....what Happen...??
i just got in from cruising in the z... i havnt took it out for about a week... so im on rt 17... and a rx8 in yellow (looked nice)... comes beside me and i hear him downshift... so after watching speed early in the day and watching the z getting humilated by the rx8.. i decide to do the same thing and downshift...he guns it first and then i go rite ahead and do the same thing...after like a second lol... im next to him... NO CARS WERE AHEAD....LOL i just smile and floor it and gain on him easily.... i was at 110 and shut down... he was a full car and a half behind me.. so when i slow down .. he lowers the window and gives me the thumbs up.. (older guy)...well the point of the story is that.. i dont understand how the 8 is car of the year in all these shows.. saying how its good for track use and everything... the z murders it in basically everyway... i just had a smile on my face when he saw my rear lol...it was fun though... it had a nice set of HIDS.. lol thats all i could say ..

Because it seats four, and because it is "cheaper" as they say. Although they do not factor in the base Z is only $26,XXX. They say the RX8 is cheaper at 28k..
Saw a test between the porsche boxster and Z4. The boxster won in almost every single catagory and scored the most points. The they Z4 got first place because of price! Stupid.. Almost the same situation here..

Same argument is proposed when comparing the Z and G35. I'm not going to buy a sports car to haul people around in ... 2 seater for life!

Rarely does any competition rate cars on straightline performance. Straightline comparos are uniquely an american thing...go to any domestic forum and see how they compare their V8's to imports.
Although track times (I mean a real track, not a drag strip) may be similar tween the two, i've heard this over and over again, apparently the RX-8 feels more like a driver's car...tossable, responsive, requiring more driver feedback...basically more fun and rewarding.
I just can't get beyond the fugly bigger MX-3 look of the RX-8.

I understand about the track part... but seriously the rx8 i thought should have been a little more challenging... i wasnt even pushing the gas all the way when i was next to him .. AND I KNOW THE MAN WAS TRYING.....once i floored it and switched gears ...I WAS GONE!
the rx-8 isnt an all around sports car, what can you say. Its nice inside, but i think it would have been nicer and more roomy for us bigger guys if it only had two seats, but then the RX-8 would lose all of its selling potential.
