Default Cancelled Warranty

Dunno if right forum or not, but anyway.
For those that cancelled your extended warranty how much did you get back? I know it if pro-rated and I asked the dealer how much I was getting back and they wouldn't tell me. My car only had 10k miles on it

Sorry can't help, I cancelled mine within the first 60 days and got a full refund. If you look at the boklet I believe it explains as well as having a fee for cancellation.

Because you can always get it up to the time your standard warranty expires and you can get an idea if you will need it depending on how many problems you might have plus have a better idea of which mileage and years period is good for you based on the miles put on the car. Also lets face at 1000-1500 you will need a major problem for it to pay off.

In jleighz's case, it's because she sold her car... actually I think she traded it in.

Warranty...As long as you cancel before the 3 year/36,000 mile warranty is up you can get a full refund minus a $25 fee.

Believe me, if you have something as simple as an alternator or fuel pump go out on your Z, you will be happy you have that extended warranty. And if you have a Roadster, think top...think major costs for any repair.

However, in the end, it is all a gamble.

Wrong answer. It is pro-rated after 60 days. I waited 6 months, and was given $235 less than what I originally paid when I cancelled mine.

I cancelled mine, because I found out I paid way too much.

If you mod your Z such as adding a supercharger, you might be voiding the extended warranty anyways thus that would be a good reason to get a refund in that situation.

I received a full refund after getting with Nissan North American when I found out that the dealer raised the price of the extended warranty. The extended warranty was supposed to be a maintenance contract and it ended up being $1505. Douglas Nissan in Henderson Nevada took advantage of me and the nice folks at Nissan North America credited my contract the full amount. Also, it bears mention that the engine is pretty bulletproof and the cost of drivetrain parts is covered up to 50K

Hmmm...sounds like you should have argued a little more. The extended portion of your warranty doesn't come into play until after the standard 36months/36000miles....I don't see why you would have lost money on it at all......it's usually prorated once it is in service (after 36months/36k)

Trust me, I argued, you are pro-rated after 60 days, per Nissan Policies.

That is why it doesn't make sense to get it when the car is new, the extended warranty is in effect from the time you buy it, even thought 99 percent is useless until the standard warranty expires, but they do things like give you a car easier and cover some things that they might not under regular warranty like clutches.

But you need to read the fine print. That is why you are better off waiting until your standard warranty is up before you buy the extended warranty, the problem is that they get you when it is new because you can finance it with the car.

I was actually considering extending the warrantee past the 3/36, as I bought it used, but not sure what to get, how much it costs, etc. Have to look into it, or if it's even worth it.

On a Z, a $1500 repair in 5 yrs/100Kmi is highly likely, IMO. Glad i've got mine.
