Unhappy BOSE CD Won't Play - Check Disk?

For some reason today my BOSE seems to up and have died on my.

Any CD I put in, tried about 6, will flash the number of the slot I inserted it into for about 5 secs, then the player just reads "Check disk". When I turn the car off, there is a long series of motorized servo type noises, not grinding mind you, just clicks, whirring, buzzing. It goes on for a minute or two and then it seems to just give up.

I know bose blows, and I should have replaced with an aftermarket HU by now. I'll probably take the car into the dealer Monday.

Does anyone have any ideas? If this happened to you before, were you able to fix it.

I really love my Z, it's a great car, but I'm losing faith slowly, and I don't want to. I'm really disappointed in my purchase now. Feathering, grease streaks, chipping paint, pulling to the right, and now a stereo problem. I know I purchased a first year car, but this just really sucks,

I just had my BOSE HU replaced today. CD's were skippin like crazy.

Yup, I bought mine when it came out too. 10/02. I do have my shares of problems but I spent so many hours fixing them already, why not keep it? But then if Nissan came out with a TT version, it's a diff story.

Had the same problem. The only fix is to have the unit replaced. The dealer can't repair the unit. Take it to your dealer. Show them the problem and Bose will send them a "new" replacement. My dealer had it replaced within a few days.

It's not a new HU that they replace your old one with. It's actually a "remanufactured" HU that they give you. I was hoping they would give me a new one....

But the new one works fine so far. But then I just got it installed this morning.

I had the same problem. I was on vacation when this happened. I fixed it myself. Here is what I did:

Disconnect your battery for 15 - 20 minutes, then reconnect. This will reset your car's computer. When I started it back up, I did get one more check disk, but then I shut the car off and back on....presto, fixed!!!

This was 3 weeks ago, and I have not received a check disk since.

This approach was recommened to me by the service manager at a Nissan dealership. He says that resetting the car fixes 50% of the cars suffering from this issue.
