Why do people get a car they don't know how to drive yet ? Because they can

Well like I said, I have until October to learn. This is going to be only the SECOND car I've ever owned and the first was AT.

Used to be you could go rent a manual tranny and learn on it... but the rental agencies only seem to rent automatics now ....guess they got wise. But there's smaller shops like "rent a wreck" that some times have cars with manual trannys. My advice is find someone who knows how to drive a stick and go rent one of these for a couple of days.

Is 100% right. The man in my avatar pic is indeed Ajay Panchal. That is the guy we owe credit to for the fantastic Z concept.
Thank you all for the advice. I know I need to learn it first. My mom can teach me, but it is just that it's hard to find a MT car now a day.
Well, got start somewehere. Besides, who can resist the Z. The order form just magically filled before I knew it.

Wow...to have a 350z as basically a learner car is almost unthinkable. Most of us here learned in High School in our friends Chevette. You're a lucky guy but please....don't burn her out. Do yourself a favor...try and get some lessons before you get your Z.
Believe me its the best investment you'll ever make.

Driving a staight shift is no big deal. My 25 year old daughter has driven one since she was 13 - she started early, and won't drive anything else. She drives a new "Bug" now. I've always encouraged her to drive a straight shift - she won't be stranded for lack of an automatic. She has never worn out a clutch, either.
If she can do it at 13, anyone can. Just relax, let nature and thought take its course, and you should have absolutely no problems.
The hardest part is starting on a hill after stopping at a stop sign stop light, etc. Just give yourself plenty of time to practice coordinating the clutch and gas before you try the hills, and plenty of room to practice. I suggest a shopping mall parking lot when there's no one around, and plenty of room to practice. It really is not difficult for anyone with average coordination.

Out on country roads, and our land - also practiced on a go-cart a lot - my son did the same. That's the best way to learn - off road of course. Not on any main roads until totally legal, and then, no problems at all. They also had extensive driver's ed courses.
15 is the earliest one can drive legally, on a learner's permit, and it's getting more an more difficult for a teenager to get a license.
My son learned to drive a straight in my first Z - a 1987 - he was 15 at the time - had his learner's permit.
