This question is asked a bunch. The answer isnt really in any one
thread but is answered all over this board.

Your going to have to spend a few hours(or months) of reading time here. Learn about the car from all the different owners, then you can get a better educated idea of what your getting into.

IMO Get the Z dont worry about any BS

Default reasons

Many people just get tired of owning a stiff riding 2-seater sports car. They want something more comfy or something changes in their life ie: new born kid and they need to get a bigger car. That's why you see so many for sale. I don't see too many people that sell the car soley because of the minor issues that plague it. It's the same reason I see so many Porsches for sale at Mercedes dealerships. They get tired of the ride and trade for a bigger car. (Just look at the Bill Usery Mercedes lot in the Gables)

The only issues I have with my Z are the tire feathering and grease streaks; something I can easily deal with and patiently await the fixes. Aside from that, no complaints. It's a great car and very very fun to drive

The answer to your questions depends on what other cars are you looking into??

I have been the very proud owner of a 1992 BMW 325is, 1993 Mazda RX-7, 2001 Audi TT 180QC, and a 2003 Nissan 350Z Touring. Each of the cars were different in their own right and each had their own pros and cons.

First, with the Pros of the Z ;
1. I love the styling of the car and having only 2 seats does not bother me since I am not married nor do I have children.
2. The performance of the car is wonderful. (Not as fast as the Mazda, but then again no turbos in the Z) This of course includes performance such as handling.
3. I like the leather in the car and the feel of the seats. Makes the car feel sturdy.
4. Like the Navigation option the Z offers.

Now to the cons of the Z :

1. Service on the car is horrible. That is, it is still a Nissan and you will have to deal with Nissan dealerships (i.e. Popcorn stands, BBQ stands, clowns running around, etc...) for service issues. This is opposed to dealerships like BMW and Audi, where they treat you like king (i.e. free loaner cars, better service, etc..)
2. The BMW and Audi only required oil changes every 10000 miles or so and everything with those cars were covered under warranty (4 yrs/50K). Nissan will pay for practically nothing and warranty is only 3 Yrs/36K).
3. If you get the Touring model, the Bose is complete crap. Although I love the Navigation option I got, I would've rather saved the 2 Grand and did everything aftermarket.
4. A lot of issues exist with the Z, like Tire feathering, transmission problems, etc... But if you are getting a 2004 model, a lot of these kinks may have been worked out.
5. No sunroof/Targa Top/T-Top option for the coupes. Kinda feel confined in a small area at times.
6. The Bridgestones they put on our cars are complete crap, but if you are gonna go aftermarket wheels, this doesnt matter.

I'm sure this list is incomplete and I have many more pros and cons, but these are the ones that came to mind first. Just remember, if the other cars are you thinking of purchasing besides the Z are cars like the Subaru, Lancer, etc.. I would say get the Z over any other comparable priced Japanese car. But if you are considering a German car, thats like comparing apples to oranges. You gotta really do your research and ask yourself what it is you really want out of the car. If its more luxury and comfort, go with the German car. If its more fun and performance, go with the ZZZZZZZZZZ. Tell me what you decide to do.

Just a quick note on the S2K, I am 5'11 and I barely fit in the car. If you are used to sitting in a laid back position, there is no way you are going to find the S2K comfortable at all. As far as the Z goes, I have plenty of leg room (So I guess this is another positive for the Z). Also, IMHO the Evo has great performance, but is one ugly looking car.

I don't think I could use it as my daily driver, (small, weather, etc...) but it's a great weekender.
