Former Eclipse Owners???

maybe she got some bad gas or something. I would go to a different service station and fill it up with high octane gas , and add some gas treatment with it. Change plugs and wires and make sure the MAF sensor pushed all the way in, sometimes it slides out.

ZNUTS- Thanks for stealing my thread...lol I'm just kidding, you may be in luck...I had what sounds like the same exact problem with my 2000 eclipse...I'm pretty sure mine was from very shitty gas, I was empty an the station I stopped at had nothing left but regular, and I actually did it...Anyways I had the same issues your describing...I had tank emptied and cleaned, new plugs, tune up the whole 9...Turns out my MAF sensor needed to be replaced...The whole ordeal cost me about $1,200 cause the damn shop kept fixing things that didn't need to be fixed, and then returning the car to me without the problem being solved...Have them look into the MAF sensor...My car was fighting through the RMP'S backfiring all the way up, sounded like the motor could go at any point...If this sounds kinda similar, have them take a look...Hope this helps, Dom

Thats exactly what I was afraid they would do, change parts at her expense.She also has oil leaking out of the head,so she's looking at another 1200 for that.I hope you guys are right;she can put the saving towards a Z like her Dad's.Thanks Dom for your help!
