Default Exhaust question

Has anyone removed the cats from their Z? I am considering taking out the resonator and one of the cats, leaving the one cat in that the o2 sensor is in so I will not have any check engine lights coming on. Is this a worthwhile mod? What are your oppinions? I assume it should pick up some horsepower as well as some sound. Thanks for your advice!

reducing backpressure isn't always beneficial. you'll lose low end torque. exhuast tuning isn't simply sticking a straight pipe on your car. the loss of a resonator will probably get on your nerves after a while too.

1cat doesnt sound good to me, one bank would have more backpressure, that cant be too great for it. plus I think it it doesnt have both sensors, it will be pissed anyway.

better off to just get test pipes.

a few removed the resonators a while back, but that trend died off when 1. they found 0gains and 2. it got extremely raspy. most all aftermarket exhaust have resonators as well, even resonated test pipes as well, with out it, you get a nasty fart sound.
