hey...

If yall was making about 725 every two weeks would yall consider buying a Z. That would cover insurance and my payment for one whole month. With the other 725 you could save and keep some gas and spending money(not that much spending money) in ya pocket. Tell me what yall think. I will also be getting my education also

you shouldnt spend more than 1/3 of your monthly income on your car , so they say... personally i wouldnt even spend 1/4 of what i earn on my car..
If you know you can manage this go for it , but make sure you take into consideration all the expenses you may have in the near future...
good luck

I think a good rule of thumb would be never spend more than 20% of your TAKE HOME pay on the car payment. As for insurance and gas and repairs and taxes, that situation is different for everyone.

i thought the rule was half of your yearly pre tax income.....I make $61000 pre tax so that comes out to $30500...perfect for a Z

Been there, done that. I can tell you from experience that you don't make enough money. You'll be able to afford the car, but you will live car poor. Don't do it. If you're not going to increase your personal worth in the job market (i.e. make more money), at least save and knock the cost down before you buy.

if you have to ask other people if you think you can affod a 30-35K car in hopes someone will talk you into buying one, you can't afford it.

I make a bit more then you, not much, but a bit. The only reason I am buying a Z is because right now I can afford a hefty down payment. I am planning on putting down about $7000, which should bring my monthly payment down near the $400 mark. For my income that is managable. Without a down payment that large and with your monthly budget I would probably consider something less expensive.

Like several have said, you don't want to live car poor. When it gets to the point where you can't afford a night out with the girl you just picked up while driving your Z, you will really begin to hate the car.

Nobody has room to reply here because nobody knows enough about you. If you are living with your parents or are very young. Ofcourse you can afford it if you have no dues. But if you are older and have a real life.. there is no way to justify spending that percentage of your money on your vehicle. and Explortainment were you kidding because theres no way you pay half of 60,000 for taxes

huh? i said that you can only afford a car that is half of your yearly pre-tax income. if you make 30k a year then you can probably afford a 5 year loan for a 15k car.

I can afford a 30k car since i make 60k....get it?

Go read the post "The REAL cost of a Z". There's a LOT more to owning the car than the payment. Even if you pay 28K for the car and put 10 of that down, 18K financed will put you pretty close to the numbers in that post.....

Good luck.
