Default Hertrich Nissan in Dover,Delaware. WARNING

Purchased my Z in sept2003 from Hertrich Nissan. I only got one black master key and one valet key. I didnt know you were supposed to get 2 black keys until recently. Also, the car was missing the front tow hook cover and that was supposed to be ordered for me already. I called the service dept and they said to come in and speak to sales. So I go in to my dealer on thursday (3-18-04) to tell them about my situation and the missing key. And I also asked for my front tow hook cover that was promised to me by the manager Kirk (who no long works there).

So I walk in and Tina Wilson (sales manager) said she didnt have my 2nd key there and that there is nothing she can do about my missing tow hook cover. She also got very rude and asked why I hadn't gone sooner. I explained to her it was supposed to be ordered for me back in November, and no one called me. So after some fussing, she tells me to come back tomorrow and talk to the general manager. She then rolled her eyes and mumbled something to a fellow employee.

Today (3-19-04), I go and talk to the GM. I attempted to be friendly but he was very rude and made me feel like I was wasting his time. As soon as I stepped in his office I could sense attitude. Basically, he told me he doesnt know or care where my 2nd key is. He also said he's not ordering me the front tow hook cover. I told him I just dropped $35k at his dealership and they SHOULD replace a $15 piece that was promised to me. He said he didnt care that I've been a long time customer or that I spent $35k there. He said customers spend that all the time and he didnt need my business. He was a complete #**$*#. Stay away from these guys if you intend to buy a 350z. As soon as you sign on the dotted line they will treat you like $hit. There are far better dealers in DE. We were long time customers of them too. He said he didnt care about that either.

There are other issues going on and my father is already in contact with the Attorney General's office about them. It makes me uncomfortable that there is also a key to my car floating around there somewhere. But, the general manager of hertrich said "he doesnt care."

Be warned.

Sorry to hear about your experience. Usually dealerships aren't so dismissive considering most of their money is made from service and repair.

I am calling NNA as soon as they open ( I dont think they are open on weekends).

Hertrich Nissans phone number is
1-888-404-6246
or 302-678-4553

Zgraygo, I would appreciate it man and that is a VERY good idea. Us Z'ers need to stick together. Anyone else who would call, I would appreciate it as well. My father has the general manager's name written down ( I think its Ed). He was the nasty one as well as Tina Wilson (sales manager).

He failed to mention that he ripped off his front license bracket and the dealership fixed his bumper free of charge two seperate times. He was issued 2 black keys and one valley at the time of delivery. He also fails to mention that his original story consists of the dealership breaking his second key. He also fails to mention that kirk (sales manager) is a freind of his family and knew nothing about his tow hook cover. Its very ironic it took him six months to figure this out since him and his family have owned multiple Z's. The dealership has offered him his keys at our cost. He also singed a delivery check list stating he recieved both sets of keys. He also signed a we owe stating there was nothing owed to him at the time of delivery. I guess there is always two sides to every story. I thought you might want to hear ours.

Sorry to hear that. If the salesman ever did anything out of the ordinary when I was looking at Zs, I would've left and never came back. It's a good thing you're calling NNA because they've been trying to stop dealers like this. The dealership will probably end up with smaller shipments of Zs or any other car for that matter. If I were you, I'd put this post in other Z forums, too, to help spread the word. Keep us posted with what happens with NNA.

I'm having problems believing your story here. The simple fact you call a Valet key a Valley key shows that you don't know what you're really taking about.

Yeah I went to Herprick Nissan for a test drive, they kinda ticked me off right in the beginning when the fed me some kinda crap about not being able to special order or get the color/model Z I wanted. They also tried there damndest to get me to buy a used brickyard Z when I told them what I wanted... The salesperson never got back to me about any of the questions that I had asked about performance mods either...

When the time came that I had enough money and I found that Porter Nissan in Newark had the exact Z that I wanted, I didn't have any problem driving the extra 30 minutes to avoid Hertrick.

I really don't see how dealerships like this one can even stay in business. If they ever realize that customer service is a value-adding activity, they could become a better business and thus make more money in the long run. Sometimes I just want to open a Nissan dealership myself because I've gone to so many crappy ones.

Hey dissolved, sorry to hear about the issues you had w/ the Dover Nissan Dealer.

You already started the best thing you can do at the present, which is to make people aware of your problem and service with them and tell people not to go there. In addition, writing to or calling NissanUSA is definitely suggested. The dealership will find out the hard way why they are losing customers.

I bought my Z at Sheridan Nissan in New Castle and have had good experiences with them so far w/ Service and questions...

Keep us informed how it goes and good luck....

That's a pretty good idea. May make dealers think twice about pulling crap over people, too.

Can we have a Z buyers complaint section too? Cause I have had some issues selling

I guess there is always two sides to every story.
Actually there are three sides to the story. Yours, his and somewhere in the middle, the truth. What we need here is zcourt.
1. Dissolved can state his case.
2. Jcarpenter can respond.
3. Dissolved can offer a rebuttal.
4. Jcarpenter can respond with his rubuttal.
5. We are the jury and at the end can have a poll.
