Question ok, need an opinion or two

Ok, I came across the oppurtunity to buy a brand new, never driven 350z off the lot near me! I know, what a great find right? Its a track 350 in chrome silver. The guy who preowned it is trying to sell it through the dealer and no one knows about it but me, the catch is I have to pay around 41 grand if I want to get it on the spot. Do you guys think it is worth it to pay an extra 6 grand over MSRP to have one now or order one and hope the dealer won;t charge as much in a few months when the Z has been on the market for a little bit. Also, the loan I would get would probably have higher rates because it is titled preowned, so just another factor to consider. Thanks for the advice!!

I say wait (if you're a normal person with a normal amount of money) The car doesn't have any miles? cuz you said it was NEVER driven...So, if it was never driven, why was it titled? Just so the owner could turn around and sell it after NEVER driving it? Doesn't make sense to me...
Now, if you have money to burn, then I'm sure you would've just got it and not even asked anyones opinion. Spending 6000 dollars over msrp on a slightly used/probably beaten for the first few miles Z is not a smart idea, IMO...

Unless you are dying to have the car now, I think you summed up the reasons for not buying this one. Paying 6k over MSRP is pretty steep, especially since it has already been titled. If you look around the forum, you'll find lots of people getting post pre-order vehicles for MSRP or very close. Good luck!

The experience that I've found is that the dealer will be marking up the Z's that come in the first allotment with the pre-orders. But, you should be able to order one just for you now at MSRP and when it comes in, it's yours. If it were me, I'd not spend that extra loot. When you go to sell it, however long that may be, you won't be recovering any money spent over MSRP, IMHO.

I say, order what you want now and enjoy the extra cash later - maybe to add stuff to the car.

Definately wait. Waiting just a little bit longer will be worth the extra cash you save. Think of the mods....

sorry about the confusion with it being preowned, this is how the dealer explained it to me....
because a preorder requires money down, it is the person who preordered it car and is titled as such... even if they dont take delivery, it is still there car. The guy already paid the dealership in full for the car and just decided not to take it, since it was titled to his name, the dealer is selling it as a preowned. It's almost as if the guy didn't buy it because the dealer would pay him back the money he paid and take whatever I give them. It has never been driven any further than the factory to the trailer, to the inside of the dealership. My dealer said I could custom order one, not through pre-order, and it would get ther ein about 3-4 months. All I would have to do is put around 500 bucks down as a deposit.

I think alot of us here are vehemently against paying over MSRP, since the whole premise of the car is, "affordable" sports car. 41k is not affordable, thats expensive.

You're also going to be ill when summer rolls around and nissan has already made 15,000 units for 2003. They are going to be plentiful at the dealers, and with standard not so pretty Nissan depreciation, you're gonna hate life.

If you claim to have a lot of money to spend, then I will have to assume that you are intelligent, a business man and are concerned about long term financial success. Buying the Z now, is like flushing that 6k down the drain. With that attitude, even donald trump got into trouble...

Thank you guys for the imput, I think I am going to go and order one and wait for it to come in. December or January isn't too long of a wait. I know some of you guys have been waiting for 8 months or longer!! I will still think about it for a day or so, but I am really leaning towards just ordering and waiting, that way when it comes in, the dealer hopefully will be charging MSRP or at least have some room to make a deal. Right now they are saying, well we could sell it at an auction for 45, so you are getting a deal and there is no negotiation. Doesn't that just suck! Oh well. Thanks again guys! I appreciate any more input anyone wants to add.

Good decision...the less cars they sell over MSRP the better!
