Haha, congrats! Like people have said, this car is a beast. It's a completely different car after 4,000rpm. But remember, the whole "pedal to the metal" idea applies here. When you give the Z only 50% of the gas, you're only getting 50% of the power. When you really want to see what the Z can do, do not hesitate to give the gas some umph

I'm curious about everybody's break-in habits.
My salesman (who's a certified technician as well) said there was no need to go easy on the car. He said you can drive it like you stole it, right off the lot.
A co-worker of mine, who used to be an NCO in charge of engine maintenance for the US Army, said that new engines need a variety of different "stresses" to break in. Everything from high RPMs to engine compression (coasting with the engine slowing down the car.) The worst thing is keeping the car at a constant RPM for a long period of time.
Finally, Corky Bell (Author of "Forced Induction Performance tuning") says similar things. He recommends a 300 mile break in period, with the last step being : put the car in top gear, and floor it from the lowest speed it will still pull in, until it tops out.
So, based on that, I've been driving my Z like I want to. I'm not redlining it or anything, but I'm not keeping it below 4,000 rpm either. As far as oil changes go . . . I know Honda puts a special type of oil in their new cars, and they STRONGLY recommend that you do NOT change it until you reach a certain mileage (3,000 or 4,000) Your Z may have a similar thing going on, where the new engine oil is designed to aid in breakin, and changing it too soon may cause problems.

During break in... I'd go out of town about once a week and redline gears 1-4 on an unused highway here, but only started that habit at about 400 miles. Rest of the time I kept it under 4k RPMs. The car runs like a champ.
I agree, get off the board and get in your car. Those of us who haven't reached the golden gate number to fredom whant to hear all about it. Do you have a radar detechtor? You might want to get one of those first!!! Have fun and be safe!
You guys are funny!!! Hey, you can't drive the car all the time. When you're not driving it, you might as well be talking about it or looking at other peoples!,
Don't have a radar detector, they're illegal in VA.
The last day or two have been really fun. I won't lie and say that I never broke the 4K rpm limit during that first 1200 miles, but it was a rare occasion. Now that I can do it "guilt free" it's a whole lot more fun.
Funny thing is that I just changed jobs, and my commute went from about 45 minutes down to about 6 minutes. The car barely has a chance to get warm before I'm at work. I might have to find the long way, just to get some more drive time!!! DAMN, I LOVE THIS CAR!!!
